How do you SLAY your workout? At 2717Fit, where “Iron Sharpens Iron!”
You might be familiar with the scripture “Iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another” found in Proverbs 27:17. While the illustration is referring to the value of relationships, that message is easily applied to the fitness community and killer exercise regimens found at 2717Fit near downtown Frisco, at 6065 Sports Village Road, Suite 500.
Finding the Right FIT
When tenacious, Southern-born Beth Ward relocated to Frisco, she noticed there was no shortage of fitness studios and gyms to choose from. Yoga, Pilates, CrossFit, cycling, barre, weight lifting, boot camps, and more. Workouts offered in hot or colder temperatures, indoor and outdoors. Frisco is clearly a health-driven community.
But as a former cross-fitter, it was important to Beth that she find a fitness regimen that created muscle soreness rather joint pain or injuries. Her commitment to that end led to the creation of 2717Fit where she teamed up with Charles ‘Chuck’ Schneider to develop a High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) Center integrated with TRX Suspension Training.
CRUSH Your Fitness Goals with TRX
You may be familiar with the yellow and black straps suspended from a beam, wall, or ceiling in a gym. While the TRX Suspension Trainer looks like a simple piece of equipment, it was born in the Navy Seals before it was adopted by premier athletes across the globe.
TRX suspension training allows you to change your center of gravity while performing functional movements in dynamic positions. Thus, challenging every muscle in your body. (You’ll definitely get a full body workout!)
Take, for instance, TRX Suspended “Knee Tucks” where you begin in a plank position and bend the knees into the chest in a crunch formation. This move focuses on strengthening and stabilizing the abdominal muscles, hip flexors, and shoulders.
While it might sound and look easy, remember that you’re carrying your body weight while being suspended! Plus, you perform the movement for several repeated repetitions.
TRX “Rows” are my personal favorite because they strengthen the upper back muscles. This particular movement is especially good for individuals that play sports like golf or baseball because they tend to develop body imbalances. However, with regular TRX suspension training sessions that utilize ‘multi-planar exercises’, it will help improve and stabilize your body.
Whether you’re performing a chest press, squat, plank, or lunge, the beauty of TRX is that you can modify or crank up the intensity of each exercise to work all of the muscles in your body (especially the core which helps to erase that unwanted bulge). Bonus: the workouts will give you sexy, sculpted arms and legs!
The Glorious Afterburn
At 2717Fit you’ll experience a unique, small group personal training workout that results in more energy, noticeable toning, and extra calorie burn for up to 36 hours. The regimen is designed to maintain a target zone that stimulates the metabolism and increases energy.
The science is rooted in the methodology of Excess Post-Exercise Oxygen Consumption (EPOC) or, afterburn. In the recovery process, the body is restored to a resting state which aids in balancing hormones, restoring fuel, cellular repair, and increased metabolism which allows you to ignite approximately 500-1200 calories in one class!
What to Expect in a Class
In a typical class, you’ll begin with a warm-up of some stretches followed by cardio where you have the option to row or utilize the ski machine. This helps to jump-start your nervous system and prepare the body for the “Lean Workout.” During two rounds you’ll transition from the row or ski machine to TRX, followed by dumbbells and barbells, and then repeat.
At 2717Fit you have the ability to choose from two exclusive types of full-body health regimens that burn fat, improve heart health, and build strength.
• LoadedFit workouts incorporate the fundamentals of CrossFit or Olympic-style weightlifting.
• LeanFit is a unique HIIT exercise regimen that focuses on building lean muscle mass, creating great cardio health, and losing the blubber. The coaches offer options and modifications within all the workouts that allow members to safely perform movements that work around any physical issues.
Classes are designed to be small and intimate to create that sense of energy, accountability, and community with fellow members. Typically, the class size ranges anywhere from 5 to 20 people per class. Having smaller class sizes allows the coaches to ensure members are utilizing the correct form during each exercise, preventing unwanted injuries.
