Life can be a bit hectic during the holidays and well into the start of the New Year. Fear not, Horizon Hot Yoga has 3 strategies that can help you maintain your Zen while everyone else is feeling the holiday frazzle.
Hang with Carson Clay Calhoun
Calling all aspiring yoga teachers, enthusiasts, and individuals in need of a mini-retreat! Horizon is hosting yogi guru Carson Clay Calhoun in February 2020 for a 200-hour teacher training, class, or one of three workshops. It’s an incredible opportunity to learn from one of the best, and right in your backyard. Yep, no hotel or flight expenses (save those dollars for a new pair of yoga pants!).
Not only will you have the pleasure of standing on your head but you’ll experience a whole lot of laughs from the “Handstand-up Comedian.”
Yoga is 99% practice and 1% theory. Horizon’s 200-hour, one-month instructor training with Carson Clay Calhoun offers a comprehensive education that will take you beyond the requirement for Yoga Alliance.
The sessions cover techniques, training, and practices over asana, meditation, anatomy and physiology, and yoga humanities. Carson will ensure you’re well prepared to instruct your first yoga class. The training even dives deep into the popular Rocket Yoga style.
The beauty of a one month workshop versus a 2-day session? It isn’t rushed and you’re less likely to become overwhelmed. 30 days allows you the ability to put all your knowledge into practice under Carson’s guidance.
Grab the early bird discount – $2500 per person through 12/2/2019 ($3000 afterward).
Yogi Workshops: If becoming a yoga teacher isn’t on your bucket list, opt for a yogi workshop. These sessions allow you to refresh and take your practice to a new level. Workshops are $35 each if you sign up at least one week prior to the session. (Feb. 1, Feb. 15, and Feb. 22), and $45 for those signing up after those dates):
- Yoga for Dummies: February 8. Basics for anyone and everyone; the only stupid question is the one not asked! A workshop for yogis at any level in their practice, delivered with humor and passion.
- Level 1 Upside Down: February 22. Inversions, handstands, and arm balancing led by the Handstand-up Comedian himself.
- Level 2 Upside Down: February 29. For those who want to go deeper in their inversion practice. Level 1 Upside Down or some inversion experience required for this workshop.
A Carson Class: Escape from reality every weekday night at 6:00 pm during February to take one of Carson’s classes. His humor will make you forget all about your inbox. The sessions will vary between Rocket, Ashtanga, or Vinyasas. Studio members that have a monthly membership will be able to access the classes for free.
Not a member? You can take advantage of a Carson Class for the drop-in rate of $20. Tip: Sign up early because his classes fill up quickly….just one of the many reasons why Horizon continues to invite him back to the studio. Cecilia Castillo and Mary Ellen Crow, Yoga Instructors at Horizon Hot Yoga shared,
Carson is a really fun teacher, even though he brings a serious amount of yoga experience. He’s down to earth and patient with all levels of yogis. He connects with students and inspires us to do the yoga. The Rocket Yoga workshop was a relaxed session.
Even though the format was new to us, it wasn’t intimidating. Carson created an open and comfortable environment for learning and exploration. We got the best of everything in the Rocket training… breath work, strength training, and arm balances but also a fundamental base of anatomy and how to strengthen the mind/body connection that is so important in yoga. We learned a lot.
You never know one of Carson’s sessions might change your life. Or at least give you a new perspective on how to live it in the New Year.
Feel better with self-care products.
You won’t get high taking CBD Oil, but you’ll likely feel a heck of a lot better! CBD oil helps relieve pain and reduces inflammation in the body. It also may aid in keeping anxiety in check. CBD is known to improve insomnia, cancer, Diabetes, Autoimmune conditions, and more.
Horizon Hot Yoga chose to carry the high-quality Dallas-based Zodiac Wellness brand of CBD oil products in their studio as another component of self-care. The oil is formulated to be water-soluble – meaning, it’s meant to be swallowed and won’t be destroyed by your stomach acids.
Supplements come in flavored drops for your favorite beverage or creams. If you’re feeling a bit unsure or are new to CBD oils, ask for a complimentary sample. The Horizon staff will also be glad to answer any of your questions.
Try an alternative medicine.
You might have heard the term “reiki” but have no idea what is… Reiki is an alternative medicine called energy healing. The practitioner works to transfer healing energy to the client by light touch or palms slightly off the body. The holistic practice is known to create relaxation, reduce pain, and improve reoccurring health issues.
Naturally, Horizon Hot Yoga Owners Mary and Mike Von Ahnen were a bit skeptical about implementing the alternative practice at their studio. Mary decided to give it a try with one of Horizon’s yoga instructors and Reiki healers, Tia Marie and loved it. Mary shared,
I loved it! Tia spent an hour with a light touch or with her hands just above areas of my body. I felt a strong and pleasant feeling of heat in the areas where she was working her magic. She spent a particular amount of time on my right hip. It had been giving me problems (although I hadn’t shared this with her). I have experienced less discomfort since the session. One of the most positive things about the session was at the end when Tia gave her observations about my energy. The entire session was a relaxing, affirming, and healing experience.
Reiki might be a great option to help you recharge your body when things get hectic. Most people are running through life like a car on empty fumes. Think of Reiki as fuel to your body to help you maintain and repair yourself. Learn more about Reiki sessions at Horizon Hot Yoga here.
