Edwin Cerrillo’s story of the sacrifices a family goes through to chase a dream pulls on my heart. Moving away from your family as a young teenager to play soccer in Frisco, Texas – not your average high school story, but this isn’t your average athlete.
It takes sacrifice, rejection, and grit just to take the chance to be a professional athlete. Edwin’s dreams started to look like a reality in February 2019 when he signed with FC Dallas, then when he quickly made his professional debut in the MLS in the March 9th, 2019 game. The moments after the game were emotional for Edwin and his family, and we were proud to be there to see it, capture it via Suad Bejtovic, and get to know Edwin and his story.
