Every fall, as soon as the weather starts to cool I have a craving for soup. I know I’m not the only one.
We dust off the crock-pot, “like” every Instagram post with fall leaves, and search around for soup that will warm us from the inside out.
Soups provide a sort of comfort that reminds me that this cold is only temporary and it’s up to me to make the most of it.
In a city like Frisco where new restaurants pop up regularly, I have my go-to’s, but I’m continually impressed by the new options. From tortilla soup or ramen to pho or broccoli and cheese, you’re sure to find your favorite soup in Frisco.
It’s time for us to toss aside that canned soup in the pantry, pull on those warm boots and get ready for the comfort that only a good soup can bring.
Or not…the list below also delivers! When flu season rears its ugly head, you’re going want a dependable soup that can be delivered. Start here:
Kelly’s Craft Tavern
Kelly’s is known for making their food from scratch. Everything from veggie burgers to their soups is made with care. Whether in their bar area, adorable outdoor patio, or in their cozy seating area, you’re sure to find “your table.”
What to order: Scratch-Made Potato w/Bacon and Cheddar. When the waiter wants to know if you want bacon and cheese on top, say yes. Don’t be shy…you can even ask for extra. The crisp bacon on top and cheese is everything.
Goes well with: A beer while listening to the Goo Goo Dolls.
Too Cozy to Drive? Favor delivers.
Ramen Hakata
When you walk into Ramen Hakata, you don’t feel like you’re in Frisco. You’ve walked into a world where you have access to a broth made by simmering pork bones for a minimum of 12 hours.
Not to mention, the ramen noodles were flown in fresh from California. This is the kind of place where you’ll take a picture of your soup and then text a friend to let them know you’ve found a new amazing place for your next hangout.
What to order: Chasu Miso Ramen made with a pork-based broth with misu, chasu, soft-boiled egg, green onion, black mushroom, bean sprouts and corn.
Goes well with: Green tea or Asahi and Instagram wanderlust.
Too Cozy to Drive? Door Dash has you covered.
Simply Thai Bistro
Simply Thai started on Main Street in downtown Frisco and has a bonus location on Legacy, but I love the decor and ambiance of the original location where you can see the magic happen in the kitchen. Order at the counter, take a seat or chat at the counter with the crew. Their goal is to make you feel at home… They’re happy you’re there.
What to order: Tom Kha, a creamy authentic coconut milk based Thai soup. Basil, fresh tomatoes, scallion, cilantro with tofu, chicken or shrimp. I get mine with tofu but you do you.
Goes well with: A drive through downtown Frisco and a hot tea.
Too Cozy to Drive? Order online through their website. They deliver.
Tulla Patisserie & Cafe
When I was a child, inspired by Princess Belle, naturally, I always dreamt that I would live near a french baker. I would be best friends with the baker who would save favorite bread for me.
These dreams and then some have come true at Tulla. After the breakfast crowd has dispersed, order a grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup, and get ready for a sophisticated take on your childhood favorite.
What to order: Roasted Tomato Soup and a Sourdough Grilled Cheese sandwich. There’s no doubting that this soup is made with love. It tastes fresh and like…tomatoes! Grab a bowl or live a life of regret.
Goes well with: A cozy sweater and Edith Piaf.
Too Cozy to Drive? Postmates.
Up Inspired Kitchen
This spot is where I have a pattern of arriving for breakfast and staying through lunch. Usually, when I head to Up Inspired Kitchen, I attempt to bypass all of the healthy options, but I was intrigued by the appeal of bone broth.
I mean, it’s rich in nutrients, protects joints, and supports weight loss. Little did I know it would taste like heaven. Up Kitchen has again convinced me to be conscientious of what I consume.
What to order: Chicken Pesto Bone Broth. It’s made with swiss chard pesto, roasted chicken and carrot dumplings. Don’t be intimidated. Just do it.
Goes well with: Your favorite magazine and shopping a few boutiques at The Shops at Starwood.
