This cold weather and winter apocalypse part un, deux, and trois have just really got me down. I’m pretty over it. There’s only so many lattes and hot yoga a girl can do before she catches a chill.
Do you remember those gorgeous, and yet random, warm days we had? Do you? I don’t. All it takes is a few below freezing mornings before the sight of my breathe has me blind to those warm days I spent basking in the sun.
So, yeah, to say I’m ready for spring is an understatement. Plus, there’s so much to look forward to in the springtime in Frisco. I’ve listed out my favorites… what are yours?
Frisco Central Park
I love this park! It’s everything I want to be around every time it’s warm outside. Water, green grass, and trails! I love going there with my pup and frolicking around before settling down with a blanket and a book. We could hang out there for hours just basking in the sunlight.
Pizzeria Testa’s Patio
There are few things that beat enjoying a cold drink on a warm Texas evening on a patio, especially in Frisco. I’ve been craving some Pizzeria Testa patio and prosecco for months now. Just give me a glass of their Bellafina Prosecco and a margherita pizza, and you’ll make me one happy girl. You can enjoy your food and drinks while the kids play on the lawn adjacent to the back patio (Simpson Plaza).
Arts in the Square
The arrival of spring also means festivals galore! By far, my favorite is the Arts in the Square festival. I love finding unique pieces from the local artists in art, pottery, textiles and more. Plus, shopping with my puppy on my wrist just makes it all sweeter. The event isn’t until March 29-30th, but I’m already looking forward to it.
The Snow Cone lady
I must admit, I haven’t visited the snow cone lady just yet, but from what I’ve heard, it’s a reason to be wishing for warm weather. She’s been a Frisco staple for 31 years and has perfected the art of a delicious snow cone. I can’t wait to try one, I want to try it now. Like, right now. See? I need warmer weather.
Frisco Makers Market
Every Saturday from 10am and 4pm, the market is held in the green space behind Lillian Welch and eight 11 place on Main Street in Frisco, Texas. Frisco Makers Market features local artists and makers, selling a selection of vintage treasures! Enjoy music and mimosas at eight 11 place, and browse the vendors while listening to the music of Ben Shurr. Entrance is free and all proceeds remain with vendors… Come out and support your local makers at this fun community event!
Running Club of Frisco
During the winter months I basically hibernate. I hate moving. All I want to do is curl up with a blanket, a fire and a movie. With the warmer weather brings sunshine and a reason to get out there. I need to get back into a running routine that won’t include bouts of frostbite! With Frisco Running Club, I have people encouraging to improve my time and push myself to do better (and get off the couch!).
Stonebriar Country Club
Those weeks near the end of spring and before the beating heat of summer is the ideal time for a pool day at the Stonebriar Country Club. In the summer, you can really only lay outside in the 120 degree heat for so long. But 80 degrees? I’ll be out there all day! Just hanging out and getting my bronze on.
All the fun things to do in Frisco during the spring months has me more than ready to turn off that blasting heat and open some windows. Winter was fun, but I think we’re all very much ready for some warmer weather. We’re Texans after all!
Frisco Farmers Market
The Farmers Market returns to downtown Frisco in May with a new location for 2016! On 4th Street between Main and Elm, the Farmers Market will be open every Saturday from 8am to 1pm or Sell Out. A bounty of fresh fruits and vegetables creates a colorful welcome to those who appreciate the “buy fresh, buy local” idea. Buy pasta, nuts, cheesecake, muffins, gourmet items, and honey, meats, vegetables, fruits, and more! Check out the vendors page for information on all the vendors.
Frisco Trails
Get out and enjoy any one of the many trails around Frisco. Some of them are a bit hard to find and there are new ones popping up all the time. Enjoy the beautiful days before it gets too hot!
Frisco Rough Riders
It’s that time of year again and the Roughriders are kicking things off. Dr. Pepper Ballpark is an amazing place to take in the game and the lazy river should be a ton of fun. We’ll still go to games when it’s blazing hot but we definitely enjoy the cool spring nights better so get out and enjoy some baseball early in the season.
