I’ve always been lousy at sports. No hand-eye coordination. But, if there’s one sport I’ve enjoyed and been decent at, it’s golf. Mostly because golf is a game of concentration and practice, but is also a very social game. Count the number of times you’ve played golf alone, and I bet it will fit on one hand. Golf is the sport where there are no teams, but you’re never alone, and that’s where the pleasure of belonging to a country club comes in. More specifically, the Stonebriar Country Club in Frisco.
Stonebriar Country Club is at the intersection of Legacy and the Sam Rayburn Tollway. It boasts impressive amenities like two championship golf courses (one nominated for “Best New Course in the Nation” when it was built), eight tennis courts, and a junior olympic size swimming pool.
Celebrating its 25th Anniversary in 2013, Stonebriar also underwent a $2 million renovation which included an incredible venue for outdoor dining and a state-of-the-art fitness center. The Country Club could be the perfect place for a new resident looking to make fitness friends, because if you’re like me, nothing helps with your exercise plans like having your friends with you. The fitness center also makes it easy for people who don’t really know how to work out (also me).
Whether you are enjoying the group exercise classes or working with a personal trainer to help you with an initial health assessment, you can acquire a comprehensive work-out plan and goals to achieve. In other words, they nag you until you’re skinny.
For Frisconians looking for golfer friends, the courses are a great place to make new friends, play around with old friends, or just learn how to swing a club. The Club has two courses: the Country Club Course, opened in 1988 and renovated in 2007, and the Fazio Course designed by the architect, Tom Fazio, and opened in 2000. The Club also boasts multiple leagues and tournaments for men, women, and juniors with a specific program just for beginners to learn how to putt, swing, and chip through private instruction.Stonebriar also has 8 tennis courts, and much like the golf courses and the fitness center, those who like to swing a racquet instead of a club can experience personal coaches, classes, and tournaments separated for men, women, and juniors.
For the foodies, the Club has two restaurants, the Grille and the Tavern, open most of the time that the club is. The dining rooms extend out to a terrace named “The View” as it truly is the best view in Frisco. Stonebriar is also a perfect place to host milestone celebrations, business meetings or any special occasion in one of the many private rooms. For those of you who love Sunday brunches (let’s be honest… everyone), the club serves a fabulous brunch every Sunday from 11am through 2pm.
So, for all the Frisconians looking for fun, friends, and a variety of social sports, look no farther than the Stonebriar Country Club. For tours and membership plans and prices, connect with the Membership Directors Shelly Meador and Terri Reinhard at 972.625.5050.
