I was recently out to dinner with friends at a place we all know and love in Frisco and was disappointed when midway through the meal, our conversation focused on the fact that we couldn’t hear each other.
With twin four-year-olds at home, I’m used to overcoming a cacophony; however, sometimes I yearn for a place that keeps the stress at bay.
When you have VIP guests come in from out of town, need a quiet night out with your significant other, or just want to gather friends for conversation over dinner and drinks without the echo of a loud room or music, Frisco has us covered with a ton of options.
If you’re up for a higher price point and want to hear the clinks of glass when you “cheers”, then Dee Lincoln, Perry’s Steakhouse, The Capital Grille, Silver Fox, and the like, have you covered.
When there’s a place where we can enjoy each other’s company, talk and have amazing food at a decent price – it’s everything we want and more.
In this age of people searching for more than digital relationships, face-to-face dinners are where it’s at. Save these six great go-to’s for your next night out with great company — because you deserve a nice quiet night out making new memories.
Bazille
2613 Preston Rd
Why you’ll love it: With Bazille you can mix business with pleasure. Run your errands around the mall then treat yourself to this hidden gem on the second floor of Nordstrom. From the soups to the salad, brick-oven pizzas, and delectable desserts, everyone is bound to find something they love on the menu. The bar has internationally sourced wines and no shortage of handcrafted cocktails. The atmosphere is always quiet and you won’t need a reservation – snag a table near the bar for easy access to libations. (Also featured in: Where to Study and Work Remotely in Frisco)
Black Walnut Cafe
5225 Warren Pkwy
Why you’ll love it: With ample seating, an easy way to pay separately, and tons of seating options, Black Walnut is my quiet favorite. They have a large, diverse menu that satisfies a crowd, multiple patios, and tons of seating options. With a group, I prefer to sit in the carpeted area in a large booth or on one of the patios. The sounds are subdued, the atmosphere feels homey, and you never feel rushed. With the self-service model at Black Walnut, no one makes you feel rushed by stopping by your table with the check. Make yourself at home and stay until they close – you won’t regret it.
J. Theodore
6959 Lebanon Rd #110
Why you’ll love it: Formerly known as Bonnie Ruth’s, this delightful French restaurant has been a Frisco staple since 2006. Go for dinner and laugh as loud as you want under the twinkling lights on the patio or near the fireplace, then stay for drinks in the secret bar beyond the phone booth. The food, service, and drinks are always spot on and guaranteed to please a crowd. The indoor and outdoor ambiance is hard to beat – it’s a perfect balance of a quiet atmosphere without feeling like you need to whisper. If you need the inside scoop on the hidden bar, you can find some guidance on their Instagram.
Eight|11 Place
7080 Main St
Why you’ll love it: A chill ambiance with great service and drinks in an intimate setting will keep you coming back for more at Eight-11. They often have music in the evenings, but if you are craving the quiet, head indoors where you will find a cozy dining room with small tables. I always order a charcuterie board and finish with a hot chocolate but you-do-you. Order a pizza to share, get a bottle of wine and maybe finish the meal with s’mores and call it a night. On the charming patio with ample seating, get cozy by the fire pit and if you’re chilled ask for a blanket or sit near a heater. This place is perfect for conversation and catching up with those you care for. (Also read: Eight|11 Place’s New Owners Are Waiting to Welcome You)
Eddie Napoli’s
8822 Teel Pkwy
Why you’ll love it: The restaurant has an intimate feel and a great patio. They have live music on Friday nights so if you were looking for a quiet night, you may want to choose another night. The staff is welcoming and hardworking. The quality and taste of food is great especially for how reasonable the prices are. The casual Italian restaurant makes you feel like you can “come in as you are” but their white table cloths and focus on standards including pizza and all of your favorites lets you know you’re in for a treat. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu at Napoli’s and although you’ll be tempted, don’t stuff yourself on the rolls and marinara you’re served when you sit down. There’s amazing food yet to come.
Pizzeria Testa
8660 Church St
Why you’ll love it: Whether you sit on the front or back patio or indoors, the ambiance is perfect for conversation. Heck, if you’re in the mood, the guys making pizza behind the bar will chat with you about pizza. My favorite quiet spot is the back patio along the grass where I unabashedly devour a pizza, split a salad, and have a glass of wine. It’s a great place for conversation and to soak in Frisco Square where you can find visitors taking selfies and kids playing on the sculptures. Without a doubt, the pizza is to die for. Make yourself at home here and be ready to talk the night away. Full disclosure: I can neither confirm nor deny that I cried the first time I had their pizza.
