There’s a reason people love a good margarita. Because sometimes life hands you limes. And the best way to deal with limes, obviously, is to add some tequila, triple sec, ice, and salt.
We took an informal poll on our social media to gather YOUR favorite spots in Frisco to have a Margarita moment. On the rocks, blended with ice, or straight up, here are your Top 10 by number of mentions.
Mi Cocina
The uniquely upscale Tex-Mex restaurant first opened in Dallas about 30 years ago, and finally made its way to Frisco in 2017. They’ve since opened a few other locations north of 121, because they feel our North Texas love. Their famous Mambo Taxi® is a delicious and frosty combination of Sauza Silver Tequila, lime juice, Housemade Sangria with Pinot Noir, Brandy, and fruit juices. MiCo’s cocktail menu boasts our favorite, the Mambo Taxi.
La Hacienda Ranch
If you meet anyone who has lived in Frisco for 20 or 30 years, ask them about the days of yore and they will definitely reference La Hacienda Ranch. For a long time, it was the only reason to head north on Preston Road. Clearly, they’ve got something because, with all of the changes we’ve seen over the years, they’re still popular. You could tout their salsa or their Texas Cowboy culture, but LaHa’s Margaritas received a lot of mentions in our poll. Choose from nine signature margs such as Fire and Ice or the Spicy Cool Cucumber, or go frozen and choose from five fun flavors.
Margarita Hut
If you’re ready to unwind with a frozen cocktail after a long day or you’re headed to Lake Lewisville for the day, Margarita Hut’s tropical-themed bar and patio is a great choice. While hanging out at the Hut is fun, what they’re best known for around here is the option to take their flavors TO–GO! Available in 16oz, 32oz, 64oz or 1 Gallon jugs, Frisconians like to stick them in the freezer or serve them up at parties.
Haywire
Saddle up and settle down just a few miles outside of Frisco at Haywire in Plano. They boast “Texas hospitality on a whole new level” and we heard from our Frisco friends that the Cadillac Margarita will raise your spirits (Dulce Vida blanco tequila, agave, lime, orange liqueur).
Gloria’s Latin Cuisine
The Salvadorian-style restaurant is well-known for its black bean dip and salsa dancing, but Frisco loves their innovative margarita menu just as much. Consider the Spicy Pineapple Margarita or the Smokin’ Peach. Also try the 1986, a tribute to when Gloria and Jose founded Gloria’s restaurants in Texas. It features Cazadores Reposado tequila, fresh squeezed lime juice, and St. Germain Elderflower liqueur.
Mexican Sugar
The hip “cocina y cantina” knows a thing or two about tequila. The first cocktail-on-tap bar in Texas, Mexican Sugar has 130 tequilas to choose from in their Tequila Library. Try one of several Margaritas on the menu or grab a Margarita flight and try three. With names like the Mad Matador and the Machete, we’re guessing they take their margs seriously.
Union Bear Brewing Co.
Located along the breezy indoor/outdoor Boardwalk at Granite Park, Union Bear offers a signature line of craft beers, an extensive bar, and a menu of sophisticated takes on American Classics. Our poll results mentioned their Margaritas several times, so head to the Boardwalk, try one, and tell us what you think. (The Caddy is intriguing.)
Blue Goose
They tell us the foundation of the company was built on the idea that great handmade food, quality drinks, top-notch service, fun atmosphere, and a kick-a$$ attitude could all be done at the same time. They have more than ten margarita options on the drink menu with fun names like the Strawberry Mamasita, the Aye Papi Mango, and The Spicy Sancho.
Crush Taco
More than just another fast-casual taco shop, Crush Taco is a brand on the rise. With two locations in Frisco, our city has fallen in love with its delicious variety of gourmet tacos. Beyond the burritos and bowls, Crush’s house frozen tequila margaritas – which you can TO-GO as a single serving or in a JUG – received a lot of mentions in our poll. Try the Chili Mango Margarita, the Sangria Swirl, or the Bomb Pop.
Tupy’s
A Dallas-area legend, Tupy’s Frisco not only serves up some of the absolute best Tex Mex in Frisco, but their housemade margaritas are memorable as well. Some Frisconians say their version of a Skinny Margarita is the best they’ve ever had (and doesn’t skimp on strength). Hanging out at the bar here is as great an experience as enjoying the Mexican Flag enchiladas. (Read more about Tupy’s cool Dallas history here.)
Honorable mentions: Mesero, Aw Shucks, Frisco Rail Yard, Cheesecake Factory, Chuy’s
