So don’t tell me… Your New Year resolution list consists of getting fit, getting more fresh air, eating organic, spending more time with the kids and your significant other, purging stuff, and even more stuff, being positive etc. etc. etc. All good right?, but what about this?
As a busy “stay at home mom” does your day generally consist of surviving the morning wake up and school run routine, maybe a stint at the gym, cleaning and laundry, errands, paperwork, dinner prep, school pick up and activity run??
Plus for those of you who also work from home; trying to get that covered too, usually during nap time when you have small toddlers right?
Well I’m one of those but promised myself last year I was going to fit in a little more “me time”, somewhere that was beyond the “feet up cup of coffee, catch my breath” type break, which let’s be honest is sometimes at 11.30pm when I should be grabbing more sleep.
How about even one or two hours, or one or two naptimes per week that you could dedicate to yourself? Something that you can still bring the cup of coffee to, but will also take you to another place, broaden your mind and enhance some existing skills or give you new ones.
How about an online course that you can do in your own time, with dedicated one on one support and a host of resources from our very own local Frisco library. And the best part – They are FREE! Yes FREE!
I probably don’t have to tell you about the greatness of our Frisco Library as I’m sure it has touched your life somewhere along the way, particularly if you have little ones but their online resources was my big find of 2013, in particular their on-line courses. The library offers hundreds of courses through Learn4Life – high quality online courses and career training programs.
They provide the perfect balance with expert guidance, rapid learning and on line availability to fit your schedule with options for both experts and rookies
I have taken two of these courses and cannot recommend them highly enough.
There are over 300 topics which can help support any business venture, further education or subjects to just broaden your mind in a subject matter that maybe just ignites your curiosity. Most courses run for 6 weeks but you can do them as fast and slow as you like and include fun quizzes along the way and then a final exam to test your new knowledge with a certificate awarded if you pass. From Law & Legal to Writing Poetry, Accounting and Finance to starting your own Craft Business & even Photography. The options are endless.
I have paid anything from $150 – $400 for something similar in the past but none of them came close to the volume of information and support resources I have received with these particular courses.
The set up is so easy, all you need is to be a Frisco Library member and Internet access. The instructors are on hand to answer questions one on one at any stage and no question is considered too silly, small or trivial.
So what are you waiting for….try one….. Again, its FOR FREE and watch how motivated you become to succeed, and then enjoy the sense of achievement when it’s completed.
