It’s an eleven-year-old tradition, but now in the midst of so much uncertainty and a deep need for community support, North Texas Giving Day takes on a whole new meaning.
Communities Foundation of Texas’ 12th annual North Texas Giving Day is back on September 17, 2020. It’s a day designated to support area nonprofits by donating to one or more of the thousands of local charitable organizations online.
On September 17, donations can be made from 6 am to midnight, however, donors can give early this year by visiting NorthTexasGivingDay.org anytime between September 1 and September 16.
A community is only as strong as the bodies behind it, and North Texas Giving Day is a testament to the power of one donation at a time making a lasting impact on the whole.
Last year, more than 100,000 donors gave gifts totaling $50 million, with more than $8 million raised during early giving and 11% of donors who gave early donating again on Giving Day. During these unprecedented times, nonprofits and donors are helping more than ever to ensure that our community is strong, surviving, and continuing to thrive.
Be a Super Fan
One way to increase your personal reach during North Texas Giving Day is not only with dollars but with your influence and voice.
You can magnify your impact by setting up a FUNdraising page for a nonprofit you support and sharing it via your personal social media channels. In 2019, “Super Fans” set up more than 2,000 pages for nonprofits, which generated more than $1.7 million. Two-thirds of donors that came through FUNdraising pages were new to North Texas Giving Day.
Another way to contribute is by volunteering your time and talent at one of North Texas Giving Day’s virtual and socially distanced volunteer events on September 1 through 17, including Communities Foundation of Texas’ 19th annual Freedom Day event on September 11, one of the largest commemorative community service events in DFW. Last year, donors pledged more than 622,000 hours of service.
In addition, monetary donors can stretch their dollars further on North Texas Giving Day by donating to nonprofits with 1:1 matching funds. North Texas Giving Day trend data shows that nonprofits who secure 1:1 matching funds experience an average increase of 26% from what they raised the previous year versus 8% growth for nonprofits without matches.
North Texas Giving Day is powered by Communities Foundation of Texas, a 67-year old community foundation that has presented North Texas Giving Day since 2009. The foundation professionally manages more than 1,000 charitable funds for families, companies, foundations, and nonprofits and has awarded more than $2 billion in grants since its founding in 1953.
In 11 years, Communities Foundation of Texas’ North Texas Giving Day has generated $290 million for our community, drawing support from all 50 states and 39 countries worldwide, with donors breaking another national record in 2019 when donations exceeded $50 million.
On May 5, the emergency COVID relief and recovery campaign, in coordination with the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas and the Dallas Cowboys, generated an additional $20 million.
