Mama Fu’s Frisco – Get Hooked On Asian Cuisine

Mama Fus LogoI was attending an event in Dallas a few weeks ago and was treated to some free food… which I’m always down for.   I filled my plate with some rice, egg rolls and, of course, a fortune cookie and made my way to a table.

Whilst sitting there, marinating on how delicious the food I just inhaled was, the speaker for the event announced that they wanted to thank the new Mama Fu’s Asian House Frisco, located at Northwest corner of Preston and 121 right in front of Sam Moon. “Say what?!” my stomach said to me, “Of course, something this delicious has to come from Frisco!”

As soon as I got home, I looked up Mama Fu’s and ever since, I’m completely hooked.  You see, a large part of my life consists of the constant struggle of my love of eating food and my desire to be healthy and in shape. Mama Fu’s makes it easy… SO easy.

Mama Fu's chickenUsually, I kind of hate knowing calorie counts when I go out to eat.  I prefer to stay in denial.  I hate when I learn that a favorite Panini or salad that I thought was at least decently good for me actually isn’t.  At Mama Fu’s, this concern is out the window because on the Mama Fu’s website they link to HealthyDiningfinder.com where you can learn more about the nutrition of their dishes.

For example, the site says that if you get the Ginger Sesame Salad with Chicken (so good), it’s just 300 calories and 560 mg of sodium.  They even suggest that you get the chicken steamed and ask for no added salt.  Great tips for health nuts!  There’s a ton of other great healthy meal options too, as well as dishes to satisfy vegans and those that eat a gluten-free diet.

Mama Fu’s cooks your food when you order it and you can satisfy any Asian cravings.  Serving up Japanese, Thai, Korean and Vietnamese flavors all under one roof, quality is the key Mama Fu’s Asian House with fresh ingredients quickly cooked to order for each customer. The menu features appetizers, soups, side dishes, salads, rice dishes, noodle bowls, kids’ selections, desserts and beverages, including wine, beer and sake.  Now, pardon me while I wipe the drool from my keyboard.

UPDATE 04/07/2014:

Mama Fu’s Asian House, one of the hottest Asian concepts in the fast casual industry, announces the launch of its new Black Market Menu at the Frisco location on Monday, April 7.  The innovative new menu takes diners’ taste buds on a trip through Asia with fresh, bold, inspiring dishes that reflect the unforgettable flavors of Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Korean and Thai cuisines.

The menu is exclusive to Mama Fu’s “Funatics Club” members and comprises several new dishes including Beef Bulgogi Lettuce Wraps,Vietnamese Meatball Skewers, Thai Pepper Steak Salad, Sichuan Eggplant with Lychee, and Spicy Ginger Tuna with Chilled Soba Salad.  The menu will also launch a new specialty beverage, Vietnamese Iced Coffee.

To celebrate the launch of the new Black Market Menu, Mama Fu’s Frisco location will donate a portion of proceeds from all Black Market Menu purchases made during launch week, April 7-13, to Children’s Medical Center at Legacy.

Mama Fu’s Funatics Club was designed to thank loyal customers with rewards such as exclusive menu offerings, special deals and discounts. Members earn a $10 credit for every $100 spent dining at Mama Fu’s.  To become a Funatic Club member, guests can visit MamaFus.com to download the app and create a free mobile account. T he app is compatible with all iOS and Android devices, and is also available for download from the App Store or Google Play.

“We are thrilled to launch the new Black Market Menu at our newest location in Frisco and are confident that our Funatics members will love the new dishes,” said Daniel Avery, co-owner of Mama Fu’s Frisco. “The menu was created to excite every palate and allow customers to experience the many unique flavors of Asia, right here in Frisco.  Our customers are always on the go, and the mobile app allows them to order from the menu online quickly and easily.”

The Black Market Menu also presents an opportunity for chefs to showcase special dishes.  Every year, Mama Fu’s hosts a “Culinary Challenge” during which chefs compete for the chance to get their dish on the Black Market Menu.  The challenge gives chefs 20 minutes to prep and 20 minutes to produce their dishes.  Each dish is then judged by the Mama Fu’s executive team.  The 2013 Culinary Challenge winning dish, Sichuan Eggplant with Lychee, is the newest addition to the Black Market Menu.

All of Mama Fu’s menu offerings, including dishes on the Black Market Menu, allow guests to modify ingredients to their liking.  The menu easily accommodates Vegan and Vegetarian diets.

“All of Mama Fu’s diverse dishes are made-to-order, and can be customized to fit each guest’s specifications,” Avery said. “Our dishes are so innovative and healthy, there is even a Mama Fu’s location opening in The Kahler Hotel, part of the Mayo Clinic complex.”

Mama Fu’s Asian House in Frisco opened its doors in October 2013, and is the brand’s newest location.  The restaurant is located in the Sam Moon Shopping Center at 2429 Preston Road, at the Northwest corner of Highway 121 and Preston Road, adjacent to Stonebriar mall.  The restaurant offers dine-in, delivery, take-out, and catering.  There is also free Wi-Fi, a large patio, and a meeting or party room with audio-visual capability.

“It has been a tremendous year for us as we build on our brand’s success and continue to grow throughout Texas and the rest of the country,” said Randy Murphy, president and CEO of Mama Fu’s. “We are thrilled to have our partners in North Texas.  They’re a wonderful group with extensive experience in the restaurant industry.  We are confident that the Black Market Menu will excite Frisco diners and encourage them to continue to select Mama Fu’s as their local Asian dining destination.”
