Updated January 2025.

In North Texas, we’re used to the ebb and flow of the weather. Our summer heat can be unbearable, January is freezing, and in the spring and fall you can expect many-an-outdoor soccer game to be rained out.

Frisco has parents covered with a variety of open-gym play spaces and entertainment hubs where we can sit and watch our children play or hang out as a family. A few cater specifically to younger kids, providing them with a safe environment for play, while others offer teenagers a place to be independent for an afternoon. In no particular order, we offer you 12 ideas for indoor play:

KidZania

2601 Preston Rd #3011, Frisco, TX 75034

The journey to KidZania begins at the airport, featuring a REAL Boeing-737 fuselage that metaphorically transports you to the city built for kids, run by kids. Enter the city and look around — everything is real, too! From the paved streets to the monuments, to all the equipment and tools children use in the activities – the park is ultra-realistic and completely immersive. (Read our full feature on KidZania.)

It’s designed for kids 4-14 years old and allows them to try multiple careers! First, their given KidZania money, which they’ll decide how to use as they work their way through the city. They also receive a passport, which gives them discounts on food and experiences. There’s a Pie Five Pizza (and they make it themselves!), a 7-Eleven, and other places to grab a treat.

Parent perk: For each child, one parent can join them for free. Kids age 8 and up can go in without a parent. KidZania uses security bracelets to track the location of kids and prevent them from leaving the park without an adult.
