The Frisco High School Best Buddies program will host a fun Trunk or Treat and Carnival this weekend as part of their commitment to foster friendships between students with and without Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD).
A 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, Best Buddies is the world’s largest network of advocates dedicated to ending the social, physical and economic isolation of the 200 million people with IDD.
Throughout Frisco ISD, individual campuses have wholeheartedly embraced the Best Buddies Friendship program. The camaraderie that is built between the students is heartwarming and contagious in every way. Many campuses have been completely revitalized as children both with and without disabilities find a way to shine.
It’s inspiring to watch a child who started 9th grade hiding in the shadows finish the school high-fiving everyone they pass in the hallway. It’s also very encouraging to watch a shy child without a disability find an amazing reason to get out of their shell and be an advocate for the partner they take under their wing. There are endless examples of the difference this organization is making all over our school district!
In support of this amazing organization and the students who are involved, Frisco High School is hosting the Best Buddies Trunk or Treat and Carnival. The event provides an opportunity for our special needs community to participate in Halloween festivities in a fun, safe environment.
There will be numerous trunks decorated and filled with candy, prizes and various treats for our special needs children. Once their bags are full, there will be carnival games to keep the smiles going.
Don’t forget to come in costume and to bring a sack to fill with goodies!
When? October 28th, 2017, 5-7pm
