FISD Superintendent Search Needs Your Input

As of June 2017, Frisco ISD will have had THREE superintendents over the course of the past 4 years since Rick Reedy’s retirement in 2013 and Jody Lyon’s retirement this upcoming June. As one of approximately 7,000 employees in FISD, I can assure you that staff is keenly aware of each step of the process.  As a community member, our participation in the process that impacts over 55,000 children is vital.

Dr. Jenny Preston, former Allen ISD Superintendent, of Jenny Preston Educational Consulting has hit the ground running since the FISD Board of Trustees charged JPEC with the task to find the next FISD superintendent. The brisk pace makes sense seeing as the board expects a lone finalist to be named by the last week of school, enabling FISD staff to know who its new leader will be prior to summer break.

Dr. Preston’s role as a former superintendent during a period of rapid growth in Allen, previous work with FISD during the 2015 strategic plan, and her understanding of the importance community input has on the process made her a clear first choice.

Feedback is critical to help shape the superintendent profile and none is more important than that of our employees,” said Anne McCausland, FISD Board president. “They know the mechanics of what goes into teaching our students and that knowledge will largely contribute. Our community members are also vested in this district and have a say in what shapes FISD. We want to hear from these groups.”

Our opinion as Frisco community members is vital and FISD is requesting input on the qualities we feel are important in the next superintendent. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate in the process.

Three Opportunities for Input

  • Complete the online survey to provide your feedback.
  • Attend a community forum on Monday, May 1st at Wakeland High School cafeteria from 6-8 pm
  • Attend a community forum on Wednesday, May 3rd at Independence High School cafeteria from 6-8pm

Of note, much like the Priorities Based Budget committee, there is also a Staff and Board-appointed focus group which met with Jenny Preston Educational Consulting on April 26th.
