Father’s Day in Frisco: 6 Fun Dates with Dad

June 6, 2019 by Meredith McGraw
fathers day 4

Let’s hear it for the Dads! These guys work hard all year long and give so much to our families and to our community. This Father’s Day, skip the coffee mug and give Dad something he really wants – a fun and memorable experience. Frisco is full of fun ways to celebrate the special dads in your life. Here are a few ideas to get you started!

For the Sports-Fanatic Dad

Treat Dad to an all-American Father’s Day! This year, our Frisco RoughRiders will be in town the week after Father’s Day, and they always bring the fun with fireworks, good food, and entertainment. Dr. Pepper Ballpark offers a wide variety of options for every taste and budget.

RoughRiders_gameFrom blankets on the lawn to premium group seating, the RoughRiders have something just right for every fan. Be sure to check out the lazy river for one of the most unique viewing experiences in all professional sports!

With so much food, fun, and family-friendly activity in one place, Father’s Day at the RoughRiders is sure to be a home run.

For the Nerdy Dad

On Father’s Day, it’s hip to be square! Celebrate Dad’s inner nerd with a visit to the National Videogame Museum. The NVM is so nerdy that it’s cool (just like Dad). The museum combines fun, interactive experiences (like giant Pong) with fascinating historical exhibits.

National Videogame MuseuDad will love taking a trip down memory lane with all of his favorite videogame nostalgia. The museum is fun for all, and more importantly, provides a great point of connection for dads and kids (especially teens). Families can bond over a common interest, share their own videogame stories, and just have fun together.

Be sure and stop by the 1980’s video arcade and challenge Dad to some Pac-Man and Centipede!

Or check out a free tour (available on Sunday afternoons) before you treat Dad to dinner at Nerdvana, Frisco’s delicious dining-meets-videogaming restaurant right around the corner from the museum. Nerdvana offers in-booth gaming (including Dad’s retro favorites), plus delicious, scratch-made food. Nerding out has never been so much fun!

For the Funny Dad

Deep down we all love Dad’s bad jokes, but this Father’s Day, leave the funny stuff to the pros. Give Dad some comedic inspiration (and a lot of laughs) at one of the Black Box Theater’s “Night of Improv” shows. The recurring production is a family-friendly, interactive, laugh-out-loud experience featuring the quick-witted, talented Frisco Improv Players.

Before the show, treat Dad to dinner at the Boardwalk at Granite Park. This lively, laid-back destination features many of Frisco’s favorite restaurants, patios, and watering holes, such as The Biscuit Bar, Union Bear Brewery, and Grub’s Burger Bar.

For the Dad Who Needs a Break

Who says spas are just for Mother’s Day? For a truly memorable experience, check out Hammer and Nails, the grooming shop for guys. It’s a not so much a salon as it is a man-cave.

Join Dad for an old school straight razor shave or a “manly” mani-pedi (think bison leather armchairs, a personal television, and Bose noise-canceling headphones).

Add to that a great selection of whiskey and beer, and you have the perfect afternoon! Grown sons and dads can share the experience, while younger dads will appreciate some much-needed downtime. Dad will come home relaxed, rejuvenated, and sporting some enviable cuticles.

For Kid-at-Heart Dad

fathers-day-water parkThe Frisco Water Park is the perfect Father’s Day destination for Dads who love to play! Dads will love zooming down water slides, floating in the lazy river, splashing with the kids, and relaxing by the pool.

The FAC water park is fun and accessible, offering day passes and plenty of attractions for all ages.

After a full day of fun in the sun, treat Dad to a little R&R at one of Frisco’s dine-in movie theaters. Both CUT by Cinemark and Flix Brewhouse offer comfy recliners, good food, and adult beverages. Dad can enjoy one of the summer’s top blockbusters (or just a good nap).

For the Dad Who Likes to Socialize

Industrial Cigars spaceThe premier cigar lounge experience in Frisco, Industrial Cigar Co., is a great way for grown-up “kids” to spend some quality time with dear ol’ dad. This hospitality-driven cigar lounge offers public and private lounge space, 2 full walk-in humidors, and a strong sense of community.

Plan ahead for the recurring Cars and Cigars event. Free for all ages, you and Dad can admire exotic cars, classics, muscle cars, and more, while sharing a cigar and a cup of coffee.

Dads of Frisco, we thank you for all that you are and all that you do! We look forward to celebrating YOU this month!
