W Lone Star (5-0, 3-0) VS Little Elm (0-5, 0-3)—35-6
The Little Elm Lobos are still looking for their first win of the season, as the Lone Star Rangers made quick work of them last Friday night. QB Jason Shelley (349 total yards, 3 TDs, 1 INT) had shaky command, completing just 48% of his throws, but did enough to ensure his Rangers coasted to their third-straight district win and their fifth victory on the season.
The lone Little Elm highlight came in the fourth quarter, when WR DeShon Gilbert hauled in a 44-yard pass from QB Austin Carter, to avoid the shutout.

W Centennial (3-1, 2-0) VS Frisco (4-1, 2-1)—31-27
Week 5’s Game of the Week lived up to the hype, as two of District 9-5A’s finest needed OT to crown a winner. As anticipated, the defense played a key role in this one, as both the Titans’ and Raccoons’ defenders put up zeros in the first quarter.
The shutout was silenced in the second quarter as Centennial’s kicker Connor Martin connected on a 32-yard field goal to give the Titans a taste of first blood. Fast-forward to the fourth quarter, and it appeared as though the rout was on, as Centennial held a 27-7 advantage with just over nine minutes remaining in regulation.
But these ‘Coons were far from playing possum, as Frisco’s Idrees Ali (289 yds, 2 TDs) scored on a 10-yard and 72-yard run, while a Luke Wadley 21-yard field goal tied up the game 24-24 as time expired.
In overtime, it was Wadley once again, this time connecting on a 22-yard FG that gave Frisco their first lead of the game. But a 19-yard pass from Titans QB Court Walker to Kenny Nelson was the final nail in the coffin for the ‘Coons, as they dropped their first game of the season.
RB Anthony Pegues (111 yds) was kept out of the end zone, but Walker (277 total yds, 4 total TDs) was able to take it to the hole on the ground twice.

W Wakeland (2-2, 1-1) @ Liberty (1-4, 1-2)—44-36
Down 14-0 after the first quarter, it appeared as though the Wakeland Wolverines might be on their way to a second consecutive district loss. However, the Wakeland defense tightened up in the second quarter, just as their offense began to take over.
Wakeland would go on a 37-15 run over the second and third quarters, that enabled them to sneak away with their first district win of 2015.
RB Jay Orji (227 yards, TD), QB Mason Doerr (242 yds, 3 TDs) and WRs Noah Anderson (91 yds, TD) and Tanner Euting (68 yds, TD) carried the brunt of the offense for Wakeland. While the RedHawks’ Big Three of Chris McPhaul (169 yds, 2 TDs), Reggie Hubbard (106 yds, 2 TDs) and WR Reggie Chaney (98 yds, TD) did most of the damage.

L Independence (2-3, 1-2) @ The Colony (2-3, 2-1)—41-70
For the second time in three weeks, The Colony Cougars clawed their way to a 70 point game, as the Independence Knights lost their bid for back-to-back wins.
The Colony, led by RB Khalil Banks (201 yds, 4 TDs), exploded out of the gates, piling on 21 points in the first quarter, while taking a robust 35-7 lead into halftime.
But Independence battled back with a strong second half, putting up 34 points. Ultimately, the Cougars’ elite running attack was too much for the Knights, as the aforementioned Banks, plus Josh Crow (136 yds, 2 TDs) and Kendrick Johnson (130 yds, 2 TDs) combined for 467 yards rushing on The Colony’s way to 654 total yards of offense.
Independence QB Kyle Saddler (325 yards, 3 TDs) once again had a solid night, with WRs Kolbre Smith (133 yds, 2 TDs) and Colton Nielsen (95 yds, TD) getting in on the second half scoring action.

L Legacy Christian (3-1, 0-1) @ Tyler Grace Community (2-0, 1-0)—26-35
In their first district matchup of the season, the Legacy Christian Eagles found themselves in an old-fashioned slugfest that really didn’t come to a head until a fateful fourth quarter.
Heading into that final period, Legacy was down 14-6, when the Lions padded their lead further on a quick 16-yard pass. Legacy answered as QB Jack Henry Knight (283 total yards) scored on a one-yard run.
From that point forward, it was punch, counter-punch as Legacy and Tyler Grace traded touchdowns two more times. And despite the Eagles scoring last, it still wasn’t quite enough to stave off their first loss of the season.
Legacy was led by Chase Eisenmann (65 yds rushing, 99 yards receiving) with WR John Singletary making his presence known, reeling in 126 yards with two TDs.
But do-it-all QB Christopher Wilhelmi was the star of the show, as he completed nearly 81% of his passes for 268 yards, and rushed for another 217 yards on 23 carries, to carry the Lions to the win almost single-handedly.
