Keep up with the action all season long: 2015 Frisco High School Football Schedules and Results
Frisco football continued to dominate in Week 2, as six of the seven schools were victorious, with Frisco Legacy Christian winning their 2015 debut in convincing fashion.
W Frisco (2-0) @ Red Oak (0-2)—35-14
An offensive scheme is only as good as the personnel ready to employ it. With Idrees Ali, the Raccoons’ run-first formula is practically unstoppable.
Ali (287 yds, 4 TDs) scored in every quarter save for the fourth—but by then the game was well in hand for the ‘Coons. Alaye Owens and Lucas Reynolds combined for 100 yds to complement Ali, and QB Rohan Vasa was cooly efficient for the second consecutive game.
Up Next: @ Little Elm (0-2)
W Heritage (2-0) VS Carrollton Creekview (0-2)—51-31
The Coyotes drew first blood on Friday, piling on the points in just over four minutes against a stunned Mustangs crew. Relentlessly scoring on almost every opportunity was a trend that would continue for Heritage, as a 34-yard fourth quarter field goal by Dalton Black would give them a 51-14 cushion with 10:39 remaining in the game—making a 17-point rally by the Mustangs all but moot.
Kene Nwangwu (208 yds, 5 TDs) stole the show for the Coyotes, while QB Amare Jones once again displayed the preternatural ability to leave the pocket only when necessary, picking up 57 yards on the ground while throwing for 107 yds and a TD. WR Bubba Ogbebor caught four passes for 97 yards and a score to pace the passing game.
Up Next: @ The Colony (0-2)
W Lone Star (2-0) VS North Forney (0-2)—48-7
It’s always a piece of cake to calculate a team’s scoring average when you’re just two games deep. With the Lone Star Rangers, no math is even required as they put 48 on the board for the second consecutive time.
Much will be said about the Rangers elite offense, and with stars such as QB Jason Shelley (332 total yards, 4 TDs) and WRs Jaylen Dixon and Coby Shelton (163 yards combined, 3 TDs) all accolades are well deserved.
Truth be told, you often see teams with a terrific offense not worry too terribly much about defense; after all, when you’re putting up 40-plus week-in and week-out, it stands to reason that you can lose focus and still be just fine.
But this Rangers defense deserves recognition after holding North Forney to just 130 yards of total offense, while forcing nine punts and two fumbles—despite a lopsided advantage.
Up Next: @ Wakeland (0-2)
W Centennial (1-1) @ Lake Dallas (1-1)—30-19
Spencer Frederickson, starting in place of Daegan Hahn (torn ACL), looked very sharp in his debut last week against Wakeland.
Frederickson is a fine passer, but this week he had to go up against one of the best safeties in the state, (Baylor commit) Raleigh Texada, who intercepted two of his passes—both in the fourth quarter—one for a 25-yard pick-six.
This game was Texada’s, as he even lined up from behind center in the third for a 36-yard TD, but he had some help, especially from RB Anthony Pegues, who rushed for 185 yards and a TD.
Up Next: VS Heritage (2-0)
W Wakleand (1-1) VS Lovejoy (1-1)—45-33
Up 35-7 at halftime, it appeared the rout was on for Wakeland, but a 26-point second half had the Leopards within one possession, before a 63-yard Jay Orji run put the game away for good for the Wolverines.
With a combined 1,064 yards of combined offense coming from these two teams, defense wasn’t at a premium, but offensively this was a real barn burner. Lovejoy’s Bowman Sells contributed 4 TDs, three in the air and one on the ground as he gained 467 total yards by his lonesome.
Jay Orji was the star of the show however, rushing for 310 yards and two TDs. Cole Hutchens caught eight passes for 126 yards and two TDs, with QB Mason Doerr tossing 179 yds and 3 TDs.
Up Next: VS Lone Star (2-0)
W Independence (1-1) @ FW Castleberry (0-2)—45-7
Say what you will about the Independence Knights in their sophomore season, but they own Fort Worth Castleberry, as they picked up their first win of the year, and their second-consecutive victory over the Lions.
RB Brandon Williams rushed for two TDs on 10 carries and WR Sam Miller hauled in two passes for 66 yards and a score to pace the Knights’ offense. Watch out for the Knights in 2015, as they are much improved and are certainly capable of making some noise in District 9-5A.
Up Next: @ Liberty (0-2)
W Legacy Christian (1-0) @ Cayuga (0-4)—42-13
Much like the Knights and FW Castleberry, the Legacy Christian Eagles have shown a propensity to pile it on against the Cayuga Wildcats, winning 37-26 a year ago. Last Friday, they took it up a notch, holding Cayuga to just two scores while exploding for six TDs.
As has become the norm, RB Chase Eisenmann (165 yds, 3 TDs) paced the offense, with QB Jack Henry Knight (175 yds, 2 TDs) sliced up the secondary, finding Pepper Snider (83 yds) for one score and Holt Kelley (72 yds) for another.
Up Next: VS Colleyville Covenant Christian (1-1)
L Liberty (0-2) @ McKinney (1-1)—34-35
Down 21-14 at halftime, the Liberty RedHawks mounted an excellent second half comeback, only to come up just short of the win against the Cougars of McKinney.
Grant Buss (159 total yards, 3 TDs) avoided the interception bug that plagued him in Week 1, and Dmitri Jones had huge night, rushing for 236 yards and two TDs. WR Chris McPhaul accounted for the lone aerial score, and Reggie Chaney caught two passes for 51 yards for the RedHawks.
Up Next: VS Independence (1-1)
