When it comes to Frisco restaurants, catering to the whole family is the rule not the exception.
Unfortunately, what makes a place tons of fun for the kids can make it a bit of a drag for adults. So when Lemon Bar closed down to become Dodie’s Live and focus more on catering more to the family, I was a bit skeptical.
I couldn’t have been more wrong.
The transition has been impressive. Dodie’s Live strikes a perfect balance of being fun for kids and adults.
Dodie’s Live, Inside and Out
Inside, Dodie’s has retained a similar layout to the old Lemon Bar, with a few notable changes. The large U-shaped bar is still there with plenty of room to belly up, and with extra-large TVs for watching sports.
The restaurant area, which used to extend to the back of the building, is now cut off by a wall and row of covered booths which are cozy and fun.
In the middle, there are two rows of floating booths, open on both sides, running from the front door to the stage. The elevation of the second row ensures a good view outside.
Booths and tall-boy tables fill the rest of the restaurant, some of which are ideal for larger groups. Every table has a great view of TV screens so no one misses the sports action.
What used to be the extreme back of the restaurant is now a game room with pool tables, ping-pong tables, video games, and more. So feed the kids and cut them loose. They’ll be able to entertain themselves while you relax and enjoy yourself. Just one rule: you have to take your kids home with you!
The expanded patio feels more festive, but get your seats early, it’s going to be a popular place this summer. Frisco Pro Tip: The patio has a great view of Toyota Stadium and, across the street, of Frisco Square. So grab a seat for big events like the 4th of July and enjoy all the festivities.
Of course they have free WiFi as well, just look for the “Dodie’s Live Free” network.
Casual Cajun Food

The crawfish is grilling! Need I say more?
Ok, there is a lot more to them than that but crawfish is a hit in Frisco. I’m writing this as I sit in the restaurant and it seems like every other table has an order. But beyond the mudbugs, Dodie’s Live has all the cajun you would expect, and then some.
From N’Awlins Style BBQ Shrimp and Tilapia Tacos, to Po’Boys, Oysters, Gumbo, Fried Alligator, Red Beans & Rice, and Fried Green Tomatos: Dodie’s has it covered.
But wait! There’s More!
Peel-n-Eat Shrimp
Shrimp & Corn Chowder
Shrimp Bisque
Fried Shrimp
Bang Bang Shrimp
… you get the idea, and queue the Forrest Gump quotes! Check out the entire Dodie’s Live menu.
Before we move on, Dodie’s has a kids menu, and a brunch menu that’s perfect for a casual breakfast, especially when a Bloody Mary is also in order. Brunch is served Saturday & Sunday from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Whether you’re heading to a game, in town for one of Frisco’s many events, looking for a place to hang with the family, or want to catch some live music and hang with other “big kids”, Dodie’s Live makes our list of don’t miss in Frisco.
And if an extensive bar, game room, great food, big TVs & live music still aren’t enough to make you go, then head on in knowing that Dodie’s Live is the ONLY place in town with a dedicated & official Director of Fun.
We’ll see you there!
