By now, everyone who plans to put up Christmas lights this year has probably done so. Have you hopped in the car, cocoa in hand, to visit the best displays in Frisco?
Christmas in the Square

My family never misses this event! We take full advantage of it while it’s here, visiting many times throughout December. We might drive through on our way home from a busy day, or make a special visit in our jammies before bed.
Picture, if you will, a minivan with all the windows down, the heater blasting, and 107.3 FM playing loudly. We drive down Coleman Blvd. and around to the George Purefoy Municipal Building, where we park the car for a minute to watch the library lights dance. Then we head back to Coleman, and drive around again. And again! On another night, we may visit Mattito’s or Jake’s for dinner, and then head out on foot to enjoy the show. (Picture two blond-headed little girls in Santa hats, hopping and bopping to the music and lights. They are a bit disappointed, now, by the 5 strands of lights on the tree in our front yard. We just can’t compete with Frisco Square.)
With over 175,000 lights, 11.5 miles of wiring and 8 miles of extension cords, the event draws more than 665,000 visitors annually. This holiday season, Frisco’s beloved Christmas in the Square event is celebrating 10 years of merriment on Main Street on December 20th. Lifestyle Frisco has additional information available here. (Believe it or not, this special event includes snowman building and snow flurries!)
Frisco Christmas
Have you ever wondered who’s behind the curtain, executing the incredible light show in Frisco Square year after year? Since 2006, Frisco resident Jeff Trykoski has choreographed the stunning, synchronized lights and music display. He started with a grand display outside his own home, then brought his talents to the Square and established a holiday tradition for North Texans. Meanwhile, Jeff’s home in Frisco still shines as one of the largest residential computerized Christmas light displays in North Texas. Visit 4015 Bryson Drive Frisco, TX to see where it all started.
The Fairways Subdivision
The Fairways, a subdivision nestled within the Trails of Frisco Golf Club, has a little-known surprise at Christmas time. Visit 2673 April Sound Lane to see a spectacular display of holiday lawn inflatables! Mickey Mouse, Frosty the Snowman, a talking Santa, and more than a dozen other large, kid-friendly decorations. A few of the neighbors have joined in as well, making this corner a very fun place to walk or drive-by at Christmas time. Photo ops abound!
In the Area
Frisco is fortunate to have great neighbors on all sides. In Northwest Plano, you can visit the Deerfield Subdivision, located off Legacy Drive just east of Preston Road. Each year, Deerfield is recognized as one of the premier communities for viewing holiday lights. It’s also worth a short drive to McKinney, where the Eldorado neighborhood assigns each street a theme for the holidays! From Disney to Dickens, Rudolph to the Nativity, the lights in Eldorado are amazing!
