Recently I found myself relaxing with a glass of wine in hand, some great nibbles laid out on in front of me, enjoying a fun catch-up with my colleagues, in the lounge of Countdown 2 Escape.
We were about to be one of the first groups ever to experience the newly designed rooms at Frisco’s popular escape room venue.
Located in the heart of the Rail District in Historic Downtown Frisco, Countdown 2 Escape has become increasingly popular for groups of all sizes and ages to enjoy an engaging and fun adventure experience. Just recently, they swapped their room themes for some fresh new ideas…and we couldn’t wait to experience them!
Escape Conventional Outings
While reviewing the orientation of our chosen escape room theme, staff member Caitlyn politely posed the question, “What level of scary would you prefer?” The intriguing question sent a quick two-second shiver down my back and stopped me in my tracks like a bunny in headlights.
Our group looked at each other inquisitively and slowly broke a smile, not wasting a second to debate the potential fear or above all else, the fun factor.
We were ready to put our phones down for a while and have a fun adventure together.
With three different themes to choose from, C2E provides a unique way to learn to “escape the ordinary” by trying your luck as a group to solve a series of clues, puzzles, and codes – with unexpected twists thrown in – to solve a mystery in just sixty minutes.
Shannon Hammond, Co-Owner of Countdown 2 Escape, shared her current thoughts on their unique venue and the new rooms.
We’re very proud of the progress so far. We have worked hard to ensure the rooms are of quality enjoyment. The staff are enjoying serving our community and have continued to receive compliments on providing great customer service.
Without giving too much away (I have to save the suspense!) here’s a general overview of the three NEW ADVENTURES to choose from:
What Happened in Raven Woods?
It was a dark and stormy night. Suddenly you hear a scream. Inspired by Edgar Allen Poe’s, The Raven, what, exactly, did happen in Raven Woods?
Designed as moderately difficult, this room is in complete darkness until you find torches to help you locate clues to progress through a series of stages, sometimes crawling, to solve the mystery.
The Lost Jewel of Zanzibar
It’s 1930. Your colleague, Magnus, has made a wondrous discovery but it’s in danger of falling into the hands of a ruthless and dishonest warlord.
Magnus has hidden the jewel in his camp and left clues that only YOU will be able to interpret. A series of clues, puzzles, and even Morse code interpretation is required to advance on, in your search for the jewel. This is considered a good intro room and a big hit with kids and family groups.
Blackbeard’s Brigg
You’re being held hostage by the evil pirate Blackbeard. He’s gone ashore to pillage and plunder leaving you to ponder a terrifying end. How will you escape a near-fatal ending?
This is one of the more difficult rooms, immersed in suspense and surprises.
Guest Experience
Always open to feedback from customers, the owners have also made some tweaks to the process, including an extra door out of one of the rooms to enhance the experience and level of difficulty.
In addition, they noticed while rooms were initially designed for 12 years and up, they’ve now provided the option of an in-room gamemaster whereby children 9, 10 and 11 years old can now participate with that little extra support and live presence to solve the clues.
What do the customers say about their experience at Countdown2Escape?
“My family of four recently conquered the Zanzibar room. It was perfect for us, not too hard but not too easy. It was cool to see our kids working things out on their own and together. There were a few surprise moments that gave us a little scare, which was a great part of the experience. Our group ranged in age from 9 and 13-year-old kids up to 42 years, and all of us had a blast – Kelly Walker
“We are four girls from a High School dance team plus a mom, ages ranging from 13 years to mid-forties. We tackled Blackbeard’s Brigg. Entering the room, you’re immediately taken out of reality and onto life on a ship; the décor was amazing. The whole concept forced us to work together in a completely different way than we’re used to. We also had great fun before and after in the lounge areas taking photos and hanging out with the super friendly and helpful staff.” – Ella Acerage
“Our room was perfect for a family adventure. Intriguing, but not scary. Challenging enough for adults but also some puzzles the kids could tackle on their own. Awesome setup and very well decorated. Totally felt like you were in a camp in Africa.” – Liz Sabau
Are you ready to escape the ordinary, escape the heat, and escape boredom?
From now until the end of the summer, you can take advantage of 15% off a booking Monday through Thursday on any escape room from 10 am to 10 pm. C2E is a BYOB facility and you can enjoy their lounge areas to snack and catch up with your group or party before and after the game.
Gather a group of friends, neighbors, team members, colleagues, or family and check visit Countdown 2 Escape. It’s a great way to leave technology behind, re-engage face to face, and quite literally ‘escape the ordinary’.
Escape Rooms in Frisco have improved a lot, and that’s why my friends and I are going to an escape room tomorrow. We all have the day off from work, so we decided to spend the day together.
