It’s Thanksgiving week and we’re spiraling (ham) out of control. With opening day of Christmas in the Square, Project Warm Us, Texas Legends games, and Christmas at The Star, it’s turkey time… Let the STUFFING begin all This Week in Frisco!


Monday, November 20

Kids & Family

OPENING DAY: Christmas In The Square 2017 – Starting Monday, the 20th and running through January 3, 2018, Frisco Square Property Owners Association and NBC5, proudly present Christmas in the Square at Frisco Square which opens with Skate the Square. Skate the Square, an outdoor real ice skating rink will be available beginning TODAY, Monday through Thursday between the hours of 4pm and 9pm. (From December 16 to January 3, extended hours of 2:00 pm – 9:00 pm) and Friday through Sunday, Noon to 10 p.m. except on Christmas Day and weather permitting. The “Christmas in the Square Light Show” will be open nightly from 6:00pm – 10:00pm. Due to the overwhelming popularity and growth of CITS, Frisco Square Property Owners Association is offering big and small businesses, non-profits, and those with a creative holiday flare the opportunity to have a 10’ x 10’ booth during the event night, December 16, 2017. Along with the dazzling light show, in partnership with the City of Frisco, which is choreographed to holiday music visitors can enjoy snow machines, parachuting Santa, an inner tubing snow slide, carriage rides, and so much more.

Frisco Public Library: Family Movie Night “SING – Gather the family, blankets, and pillow for a night at the movies at the Frisco Library! Starting at 6:30pm, watch the popular animated film “SING,” rated PG. Join us on the 2nd floor, Children’s Program Room.

Sports

The Cowboys Hour – Hosted by Brad Sham and Jeff Cavanaugh, live from the patio at Omni Frisco Hotel, Monday nights from 6pm to 7pm. Listen locally on 105.3 FM The Fan or 1080AM KRLD. On-site prizes and promotions.

Special Events

Project Warm Us – From October 23rd through November 22nd, Frisco Square will be collecting new/gently used items that may be dropped at: Frisco Square Management Office, 8874 Coleman Blvd, Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm or at Barre3 Frisco in Frisco Square during class times. Project Warm Us collects warm items such as coats, blankets, and shoes to help keep the homeless warm during the cold winter months. Many of the people they serve are shelter-less, living in Dallas, Texas and the surrounding metroplex. They also collect for people living in shelters and orphanages. Statistics from the Dallas area homeless count shows there are 21% more homeless people than last year, and an expected increase with Hurricane Harvey victims. Their 2017 goal is 9,636 warm items by Thanksgiving.

“Off With The Helmets – Cowboys” Radio Show – Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen & Bar, located at The Star in Frisco, will play host to live “Off with the Helmets Cowboys” radio show this football season. Emcee Brady Tinker and current Cowboys players will be on site at Tupelo Honey each show to discuss the current football season live on ESPN 103.3 FM. Featured players will include La’El Collins, Brice Butler and Jaylon Smith, as well as surprise guests featured throughout the season.

 


Thursday, November 23 – THANKSGIVING DAY

2017 North Texas Turkey Trot – Thanksgiving Day, in Frisco Square. This is the 7th year for the popular and growing family event on Thanksgiving Day in Frisco. The event offers a 10K trot, 5K trot, and a Miracle Mile for kids. Join thousands of participants who celebrate the holiday with grandparents, relatives, friends and their youngest who we look to see with their own families in the years ahead!

Dallas Cowboys to Host Cowboys Christmas at The Star – The Dallas Cowboys will host the first Cowboys Christmas at The Star November 24th through December 22nd at The Star in Frisco. Starting at 6pm, Cowboys Christmas at The Star gives fans an opportunity to enjoy free, family-friendly events throughout the holiday season including the official Christmas tree lighting, the Cowboys Christmas Spectacular, and the opportunity to book a photo with Santa.

Arts

A Night of Improv – Frisco Improv Players is an improvisational comedy troupe that specializes in game-based comedic performances, similar to those seen on the syndicated television show “Whose Line is it Anyway?” Their fast-paced, interactive improv is popular with all age groups. Black Box Theater, 8pm. Tickets are $12.
