MakerSpace First Friday – The MakerSpace gives tinkerers, inventors and budding hobbyists the chance to build almost anything they can imagine. Veterans and their families have exclusive access to the MakerSpace on the first Friday of each month as part of a program called First Fridays. The MakerSpace is equipped with a 3D-printer, robotics kits, a full-spectrum laser cutter and advanced woodworking tools – a proverbial “candy store” for the do-it-yourself crowd. Veterans and military participants in First Fridays must present their military I.D. for access to the MakerSpace. Children over 10 years old are also welcome.

Arts

“Evita” performed by Theatre Frisco – Starting tonight through June 18th, Argentina’s controversial First Lady is the subject of this dynamic musical masterpiece. As an illegitimate fifteen year old, Eva escaped her dirt-poor existence for the bright lights of Buenos Aires. Driven by ambition and blessed with charisma, she was a starlet at twenty-two, the president’s mistress at twenty-four, First Lady at twenty-seven, and dead at thirty-three. Eva Peron ‘saint to the working-class, reviled by the aristocracy and mistrusted by the military’ was destined to leave a fascinating political legacy unique in the 20th century. Told through a compelling score that fuses haunting chorales with exuberant Latin, pop and jazz influences, EVITA creates an arresting theatrical portrait as complex as the woman herself.

“MUSIC IN THE SQUARE 2017”Every Friday night in June from 7:30pm to 9:30pm, this FREE summer event is held on Simpson Plaza featuring an amazing line-up of talented musicians. Bring friends and family, grab a picnic, some blankets or chairs and enjoy listening to a variety of musicians as the sun sets!  Summer line up:   June 2nd – Moving Colors –  One of the most popular bands in the Dallas area performing a wide variety of music and incorporating some buckets and trash cans in their routine as well. They love to have fun on stage.
