Important Information about Primary Elections: The last day to register to vote in the Primary Election is Monday, February 5, 2018! Primary Elections will be held on March 6, 2018. Early voting begins February 20, 2018 and goes through March 2, 2018. This single party ballot will determine which candidates will be on the general election ballot in November. Primaries are very important! While we don’t tell you how to vote, we ask that you get to know the candidates and get out and vote!

Frisco ISD School Finance Night: Tax season is upon us and the District wants you to take a look beyond your tax bill and understand what that number really means to Frisco ISD. Join CFO Kimberly Pickens in a discussion about where your tax money goes. You may be surprised. All parents, staff and community members welcome. You are encouraged to attend the event for your high school feeder pattern but may attend any of the others scheduled across the District. The presentation will be identical at each event. The February 5th meeting will be held from 7:00pm-8:00pm at Reedy High School.

Frisco ISD Coffee Talk: From 8:00am-9:00am, Frisco ISD parents are invited to share coffee and conversation with Superintendent Dr. Waldrip and a member of the School Board. There is no agenda or topic. Any parent is welcome to attend to ask questions or share feedback with District leaders. Coffee Talks are held monthly. The February 6th meeting will be held in the Library of Lone Star High School.

Ladies Who Launch: Frisco Arts hosts this unique networking opportunity for women in arts and business on the first Tuesday of each month, from 11:30am-1:00pm at the beautiful Crest Infiniti Meeting Room at 6100 TX-121 in Frisco. Whether you’re an artist, businesswoman, nonprofit leader with a heart for the arts, or interested in all of the above, you’re welcome to attend!
On February 6th, the panel discussion will feature Frisco Arts members Kathy Selvidge from Texas Republic Bank, and Melody Ouyang of Music Institute of North Texas. We will hear their experiences in arts and business while enjoying a gourmet lunch by Crest Infiniti’s Executive Chef. Non-alcoholic beverages and a small dessert are included.

Good Ideas: Frisco Public Art Session: This brainstorming session will give you the opportunity to give feedback on the future of public art in Frisco by thinking big, and participating in a facilitated discussion with your friends and neighbors on what public art could be in your city. This free event is from 9:30am-11:30am consisting of a twenty-minute presentation, followed by an hour and forty minutes of facilitated discussion and activity. There will be a second (and identical) event on Wednesday, February 7 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm. Location: Heritage Museum Theater Room, 6455 Page St, 75034.

FC Dallas: FC Dallas hosts Santa Tecla FC in a preseason match at Toyota Stadium at 7:00pm.

1MillionCups Frisco: Join the 1MC Frisco team at LaunchPad City from 9:00am-10:00am as they deliver another great event for Entrepreneurs. Learn what it looks like to build a business from the Founder’s perspective. Make sure you’re ready to participate when the Q and A section begins. They’ll have a 90-second community spotlight section where they highlight current or upcoming programs. The February 7th program will feature iCode, and The Bazbaz Blueprint for Winning @Work.

Ale Star Dinner: The Common Table Frisco is incredibly honored and humbled to have Garrett Oliver, Brewmaster of The Brooklyn Brewery for an intimate dinner on February 7 at 7:00pm. Garrett will be here with his unique style, talking about the relationship between food and beer. Tickets for the four-course meal are $85 per person.

Dual Credit Information Night: Frisco ISD and Collin College will host a series of events this spring for students in grades 8-11 and parents to learn more about dual credit opportunities in the District. Courses are being added each year that will allow graduates in the Class of 2021 and subsequent years to earn an associate degree through Collin College while completing the requirements for a high school diploma. Families may attend the event at their home high school or any other scheduled across the District. The February 7th event will be held at Independence High School from 6:00pm-8:00pm.

Theatre Frisco: The 2018 season opens with the classic romantic musical, I Do! I Do!. The production will run in the Black Box Theatre at Frisco’s Discovery Center, February 925. The story follows newlyweds Michael and Agnes starting on their wedding day and explores their life together over the next 50 years until they finally sell their home to the next pair of newlyweds. For tickets and showtimes, visit their website.

Parents Night Out at Jungle Joe’s: Friday, February 9th and Saturday, February 10th. Parents, spend an evening out and Jungle Joe’s will entertain the kids with playtime on their Jungle Structure, Arts and Crafts, Games, and Movie Time at the end of the evening. This event is every second Friday and Saturday of each month, which times perfectly this month with the weekend preceding Valentine’s Day. Click for pricing and other details.

In the Community

Waterwise Workshop: Irrigation Station: February 9th, 10:00am-12:00pm at the Frisco Senior Center, 6700 Moore Street. Come and learn about your irrigation system from Frisco’s own Licensed Irrigators in this hands-on workshop. Participants rotate through five different stations to learn about valves, heads & nozzles, leaks, controllers, and conservation. Each resident is provided with an informational booklet to accompany the workshop. Seating is limited to keep group sizes small.

Live Music

The Reservoir: Join Frisco’s newest live music venue for the Dallas Dance Band on Friday, February 9th beginning at 9pm. No cover charge. About the band: Dallas Dance Band is a high energy, fun, roller coaster of a band sure to bring your party to their feet and keep them there all night long.

Trick-A-Trout: 8:00am-11:00am, the Trick-a-Trout Kid Fish is a great opportunity for first-time anglers to try the sport of fishing. Only kids ages 16 and under will be allowed to fish for the first three hours, giving them a chance to hone their fishing skills. The average size of the fish will be eight to ten inches and the daily bag limit is five per child. 3,000 Rainbow Trout are released in the Frisco Commons pond, located north of the main pavilion. 8000 McKinney Road. Please bring your own fishing gear and bait. Bring your own drinks and snacks. Everyone is encouraged to keep what they catch since trout cannot survive when water temperatures rise in the spring. This event is rain or shine.

Sensory Story Time: The Frisco Public Libary will host a family story time geared toward children who are on the autism spectrum and/or are sensitive to sensory overload. Enjoy books, songs, and sensory activities. Families with children ages 8 and under are welcome at 10:00am on the 2nd floor, in the Children’s Program Room.

Vino Meets Van Gogh: Frisco Fine Art’s popular BYOB painting event will feature a Valentine painting, 6:30pm-8:30pm.

Community

Frisco Starfest: Texas Astronomical Society holds once monthly Star Parties where members and guests can get together to observe and educate others about the night sky. Approximately a dozen telescopes will be set up to look at planets, stars and other celestial wonders. Frisco Starfest takes place on the second Saturday of each month at Frisco Commons Park. This free event is open to the public.

FC Dallas: FC Dallas hosts CS Cartagines in a preseason match at Toyota Stadium at 4:00pm.

Live Music

The Reservoir: Join Frisco’s newest live music venue for The Max on February 10th beginning at 9pm. No cover charge. About the band: “About the band: The Max, is a high energy variety cover band performing club, corporate events, private functions as well as weddings throughout Texas. Formed in 1980, The Max is one of the first on the scene covering songs from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and today.
