In the Community

State and County Primary Election Candidate Forum: 6:30pm-8:30pm. Candidates from both parties have been invited. The forum will be split into Democratic Primary and Republican Primary portions and candidates will be participating in the forum with the candidates running in their specific primary to allow the best comparison of candidates within a primary election. The event is free and open to the public. The forum, presented by Frisco Chamber of Commerce Governmental Affairs, will be held at Grace Church Frisco, 8440 Grace Street, which is just behind City Hall.

Frisco ISD Board Meeting: A regular meeting of the Frisco ISD Board of Trustees beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Frisco ISD Administration Building, 5515 Ohio Drive, Frisco. Women Enhancing Business: The WEB monthly meetings are sponsored or hosted by WEB members to showcase their businesses to the group. Each month’s meeting has a lively group of attendees who genuinely love to promote their businesses and are anxious to help others succeed. From 5:30pm – 7:00pm, Lifestyle Frisco CEO Wendi McGowan-Ellis will be sharing timely information all of us can use, “Top 10 Digital Trends for 2018. Are You Ready?” The meeting will be held at The Lincoln Experience at The Star, 3620 The Star Blvd., Ste 1205.

Frisco ISD School Finance Night: Tax season is upon us and the District wants you to take a look beyond your tax bill and understand what that number really means to Frisco ISD. Join CFO Kimberly Pickens in a discussion about where your tax money goes. You may be surprised. All parents, staff and community members welcome. You are encouraged to attend the event for your high school feeder pattern but may attend any of the others scheduled across the District. The presentation will be identical at each event. The February 13th meeting will be held from 6:30 – 7:30 PM at Vandeventer Middle School, 6075 Independence Parkway.

National Breast Cancer Foundation: NBCF has launched their “Give Love, Give Hope” campaign to honor women that are undergoing breast cancer treatment. NBCF will deliver HOPE Kits to these women on Valentine’s Day to provide love, hope and encouragement. HOPE Kits are filled with items that provide comfort to patients during treatment and offer a hands-on way for donors to show their support. For every donation of $50 or more, your gift will give a HOPE Kit to a recently diagnosed woman, providing her with love and hope. Consider making a donation this Valentine’s Day season.

FISD and PTA Present SCREENAGERS Documentary: On February 15, Frisco ISD, in partnership with the Frisco ISD Council of PTAs, is hosting two screenings of the award-winning documentary Screenagers: 10:00am at Frisco Bible Church, and 7:00pm at Liberty High School. Parents, staff and students (aged 10 and older) are welcome. This documentary is designed to help parents learn how to balance their children’s screen time in a tech-filled world. Delaney Ruston, a physician and social change documentary filmmaker, made the film after becoming concerned about her own family and the digital world. The documentary reveals how tech time impacts kids’ development and offers solutions on how adults can empower kids to best navigate the digital world and find balance. RSVP here.

Frisco Youth Theatre Starcatchers: Frisco Youth Theatre is excited to announce their Starcatchers Therapeutic Arts program with an Ariel and Friends production! The class kicks off on February 15th and will meet Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:30 at Power House of Dance Frisco. The program will culminate with a performance at the North Texas Performing Arts theatre at The Shops at Willow Bend on Saturday, April 21st. This program is offered for special needs students ages 8 and up.

RED 2018: 7:00pm-9:00pm, theGallery8680 hosts RED 2018. This is historically one of their biggest shows, with a huge variety of art by dozens of regional artists, with works predominately painted in red.

TGIF Wine and Painting Party: Enjoy painting with a professional artist from your world-class Frisco Fine Art Gallery. This is an adults only, over 21, BYOB art class for date night, girls night out, or any occasion you want to celebrate. Every Friday, 6:30 – 8:30 pm in the Main Classroom.

Sports and Entertainment

The Patriot Cup: 12:00pm. The Patriot Cup lacrosse tournament returns to Ford Center at The Star in Frisco. Featuring a full day of games showcasing powerhouse collegiate Division I teams, Villanova vs. Yale. Also featured will be four of the nation’s top MCLA teams, SMU vs. Arkansas and Texas vs. Oklahoma. Proceeds from the event will benefit HEADstrong Foundation, a charitable non-profit organization dedicated to research in finding a cure for blood cancer and to help families affected by the disease. Tickets may be purchased at www.ticketmaster.com.

TangoTab’s Feed the City Frisco: 8:30am-10:30am at City Works at The Star in Frisco. Free event open to all ages! TangoTab is a mobile app that you use to find and check-in at restaurants. Every time you check-in at a restaurant on the app, TangoTab provides a free meal to a person in need, locally. They do that through their Feed The City events, where volunteers make meals for those in need! For more information, contact TangoTab.

The Reservoir: Join Frisco’s newest live music venue for Big Daddy beginning at 9pm. No cover charge. About the band: The Big Daddy Band arrived on the Dallas music scene in early 2000 and remains today one of the hardest working rock/pop/dance and event bands in the area. The band consistently draws their audience to the dance floor with a diverse playlist of everybody’s favorite tunes.
