The Junior League of Collin County already provides the yearlong present of inspirational leaders and community change, but this holiday season they’re also gifting us an actual gift market—the largest one in Collin County to be exact.
The 24th annual ‘Neath the Wreath Holiday Market consists of a four-day holiday gift market (November 7-10) visited by over 13,000 shoppers throughout Texas. Hosted at the Plano Event Center, this not-to-be-missed event includes the best in unique holiday and home décor, ladies’ clothing, accessories, gifts, jewelry, children’s items, and gourmet food from over 125 carefully selected merchants.
Because the Junior League of Collin County is an organization committed to promoting volunteerism and improving the community through the effective leadership of trained volunteers, contributions from ‘Neath the Wreath assist in funding charitable projects such as the Collin County Council on Family Violence (CCCFV), Done in a Day projects impacting 30-40 agencies annually, My Friend’s House, Literacy Leaders, JuMP Juvenile Mentoring Program, JLCC C.A.R.E.S, HopeWorks, Emergency Response Corp and many others.
Who needs Santa Claus when you can shop for a great cause?
I must have been included on the nice list this year because I had the opportunity to check out ‘Neath the Wreath firsthand and the incredible assortment of must-haves would even give the Big Guy gift envy. From bracelets to baked pies, candles to Christmas décor, the aisles were packed with everything you need for a holiday festivity or even a fairytale princess party.
120 volunteers work year-round dedicating over 2,000 hours to transform the Plano Event Center into 80,000 square feet of “streets” for shopping. So come wearing your comfortable shoes and grab a complimentary shopping bag upon entry provided by Children’s Health.
Once it’s filled to the brim (which won’t take long), a bag check is available so you can stash your goods and keep shopping. If you run out of time, make sure to request a boomerang ticket for re-entry the next day at only a $10 rate. Ticket prices are $15 at the door, or $12 when purchased at participating Tom Thumb locations.
‘Neath the Wreath has been a community success for twenty-four years and surely many more to come. During the busiest time of the year, the Junior League of Collin County has tapped into the true meaning of the holidays: generosity and giving back.
So grab your family and friends and head over to the Plano Event Center this weekend to buy presents with a purpose.
And if you shop until you drop, don’t worry. There’s valet parking too.
