The Ready to Read Railroad at the Frisco Public Library has a big reason to celebrate today! They have officially welcomed more than 100,000 visitors to the beloved active learning station since it opened in the summer of 2016. Jennifer Cummings, Youth Servies Manager, is beyond thrilled by the community’s enjoyment of the unique space on the Children’s Floor of the Frisco Library.
We are so excited our community has embraced this wonderful resource. We are the first public library in Texas to have an active learning center of this kind and one of a very few in the U.S. Huge thanks to Leadership Frisco Class XIX for funding this remarkable resource! Now we’re looking forward to the next 100,000 visitors!
The Ready to Read Railroad is a fantastic place to meet up with friends for a playdate, and browse for books together afterward.
Today, as the Frisco Public Library Children’s floor celebrates their big milestone, they’re handing out train-shaped lollipops (while supplies last) and offering a fun photo background for pictures!
My son and his preschool pal had a fantastic time playing and reading this morning at one of their all-time favorite Frisco hangouts. As a parent, it warms my heart to see my children develop a love of reading from an early age!

The Ready to Read Railroad offers a wide variety of activities that have been professionally designed to encourage reading, writing, vocabulary, letter and number recognition, and narrative skills, as well as age-appropriate hands-on offerings that introduce science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) skills. The Frisco-themed educational space is designed for children ages 5 and under and their parents to engage in active learning together.
The initiative was spearheaded by Leadership Frisco, Class XIX, a program developed by the Frisco Chamber of Commerce which strives to identify individuals who are committed to and invested in the growth and care of the City of Frisco and its future. The 2015-16 class worked closely with the library to design, raise funds, and implement this structure further enhancing the activities available to the children of Frisco.
Our community is very fortunate to benefit from the wide variety of incredible programs and resources which are thoughtfully produced by the highly dedicated youth services team at our Frisco Public Library. You all have our sincerest gratitude and appreciation.
