LEGENDS TO WEAR “RELAY FOR LIFE” JERSEYS ON FRIDAY, JAN. 31, PRESENTED BY CREDIT UNION OF TEXAS
In 1985, Dr Gordy Klatt spent 24 consecutive hours running and walking to raise money for cancer research. In 1986, 340 supporters joined him. His endeavors have since spread worldwide and nearly $5billion has been raised. The Texas Legends, presented by Veracruz, are proud to announce a partnership with the Credit Union of Texas that celebrates the time and effort put into the organization of and participation in the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life.
“For 100 years, the American Cancer Society has been working to save lives, and create more birthdays,” said Maria Clark, Society Regional Vice President. “We’re determined to make this cancer’s last century. We are grateful to have the support of the Texas Legends and Credit Union of Texas.”
The Legends will wear customized jerseys celebrating Relay For Life, uniquely branded with both the Relay For Life and Credit Union of Texas logos. Select jerseys will be available through a silent auction during the game, with all proceeds going to Relay For Life. As part of the festivities of the night, select individuals from Relay For Life and Credit Union of Texas will be recognized as “Legends of the Night.”
“Credit Union of Texas is excited to partner with the Texas Legends for many reasons, but most of all for the common desire to give back to the communities that we serve,” said Derek Beard, Vice President of Sales and Service. “Our own Relay For Life team has previously raised and donated over $33,000 to this great cause and we look forward to increasing that in years to come!”
Credit Union of Texas embraces the true spirit behind Relay For Life and is united in its goal of fighting cancer. For the past four years, CUofTX has put together a team, growing from a small group of employees to over 30 team members.
The Legends face the Houston Rockets affiliate, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, at 7 pm on Jan 31, at home in the Dr Pepper Arena. The two teams will meet for the sixth time this season with the Vipers leading the series 3-2.
The game will be broadcast live on both television—KTXD 47—and radio—KVCE 1160am. For tickets or information, visit www.TexLegends.com. To learn more about Relay For Life and how to get involved, visit www.relayforlife.org. For tickets, call 214-469-0822.
