In collaboration with the Frisco Independent School District, Frisco Square presents the 5th Annual Arts in the Square, with proceeds going to the Frisco Education Foundation and Frisco Family Services. Frisco Square transforms into an outdoor fine arts and crafts gallery during Arts in the Square, March 29-30, 2014 with free admission and parking.
This is the 5th year of the Arts in the Square Poster contest. Every year, students from Frisco ISD participate in 4 categories according to grade, K-12. A jury selects a winner in each of the 4 categories and the winners are:
- Jungmin Oh from Shawnee Trail Elementary
- Dorothy Mantle from Centennial High School
- Anna Lilly from Staley Middle School
- Basima Muhammad from Comstock Elementary
These four pieces are represented on the final poster designed by the Graphic Arts and Illustration class students at CTE Center.
The poster winner is, Jolie Guz, an Advanced Graphic Design student at the FISD Career and Technical Education Center and a junior at Wakeland HS. Jolie has won numerous graphic design contests and helped design posters for local organizations such as Hope Park. Jolie has a promising career in graphic design.
Winners in each category will receive cash awards Wednesday, March 26th, during the Award Ceremony & Opening Reception. This free event is hosted by Frisco Arts at the Frisco Art Gallery in the Discovery Center from 6:30-8pm. All entries will be exhibited at Frisco Arts and the show is free and open to the public March 3-30, 2014.
