Looking for a more laid back “catch up”-type Girls Night Out with some good friends? Why not try Color Me Mine in Frisco?
I heard about this place so many times, but never got the chance to try it until recently when I was invited to a group event. Admittedly I was a feeling a little insecure about taking part in the actual painting itself, in front of people that is, but hey it was some free time without the kids, accompanied by some great ladies, and you can BYOB, so why not?
Color Me Mine is a paint-it-yourself ceramics studio with hundreds of pieces to choose from and over 60 colors to paint them with. Their friendly and helpful staff will guide you through the entire painting process.
We had a booking in a private room from 6 – 9 p.m. on a Thursday evening, so I showed up equipped with wine and some snacks to meet my party. The minute I entered the store I was greeted with big smiles from the staff, one of whom escorted me to the room just off the main area and helped me make myself at home.
Once I said my hello’s and got settled, that same member of staff took me through the process, escorting me around the various shelves of ceramics that I could choose from, and then talking me through the painting process and choosing colors. There are tons of different ceramic shapes & styles at various price levels ranging from simple mugs or plates to chip n’dip dishes, with seasonal products introduced throughout the year. I should not have been worried about my artistic skills, or lack thereof, either, as the design team show you some cool ways to create easy, but beautiful designs.
With my choice in-hand, I sat back down with the ladies and enjoyed an evening of girl talk, leisure painting and good food & wine. It was bliss. The staff were on hand all the time to help with advice and also bring extra paint to your table like waiter service. At the end of the evening, once your piece is finished, they store it, “fire it,” and then glaze so it’s ready for you to collect in a few days. It’s worth noting their products are non-toxic, lead-free and food safe.
Color Me Mine also offer workshops and classes, plus all sorts of events for every age group: birthdays, showers, team building, family reunions, or just fun times with friends. They also offer “Party on the Go” where they can bring the fun to you and they have a calendar of events to choose from updated on their website.
There is always something fun going on. I look forward to having a 1:1 date with my six year old so we can get some quality time alone away from the daily hum-drum in the house and create special keepsakes to take home. Why not try it out and let us know about your experience?
