Frisco, do you want to kick off your 2021 on a strong note? With some fun, family time, and a focus on others?
Day 1 DFW is the first-ever event on New Year’s Day created for families to have fun together and help others! Historically, the event was held at Fair Park in Dallas, but for the second year in a row, Frisco, Texas has the honor of hosting this fantastic annual tradition.
Day 1 DFW is presented by Vogel Alcove, a nonprofit organization that helps children recover from the traumatic effects of homelessness. ALL proceeds from the Day 1 DFW will go directly to the programs and services Vogel Alcove provides, for free, to the families they serve.
This year, in partnership with Main Event, Day 1 DFW is bringing us 3 Safe Ways to Play on New Year’s Day! Each option is designed to fit the health and safety concerns for varying comfort levels of DFW families.
Ready to play smart and play safe? Choose from one of the following options:

Parking will open at 6 pm, speakers will present at 6:45 pm, and the fireworks begin at 7 pm. With all of the mass event cancellations in 2020, including several of our own, we have worked hard to dream up three safe ways to play on New Year’s Day. Vogel Alcove and the Main Event team have ensured CDC health and safety guidelines are followed at each Main Event venue. Because of limited capacity, remember to pre-purchase your tickets now! We can’t wait to ‘Play Smart, Play Safe’ with everyone on New Year’s Day!

About Vogel Alcove
There’s a reason Day 1 DFW is highly focused on families and children. The event is presented by Vogel Alcove, a 501c3 nonprofit agency that provides therapeutic early childhood services, school-age programs, and family support services for homeless children ages six weeks to 12 years old, and their families.
The Problem: Approximately 3,000 children in Dallas go to sleep each night without a home of their own. It’s the vision of Vogel Alcove that every child in our community has a home, a self-sufficient family, and a foundation for success in school and life — and the clock is ticking.
90% of brain development happens by the age of five. Without intervention at this critical time, homeless children may suffer lifelong social, emotional, and educational deficits.
The Approach: Vogel Alcove understands that children living in trauma face unique challenges. Their highly-trained teachers and staff provide therapeutic early childhood and school-age programs, family support and physical/mental health services, all tailored to the needs of homeless children ages six weeks to 12 years old.
Homelessness inflicts trauma on children’s lives. Vogel Alcove gives them hope for a bright future.
Their primary demographic served is preschool-age children between the ages of six weeks to five years old. They focus on curriculum and counseling to ensure the kids are kindergarten-ready as they age into the school system.
Vogel Alcove serves as many as 200 children each day, allowing them to learn, grow, and thrive in a place free from hunger or trauma.
While the children are in the care of Vogel Alcove, their parents, most of whom are single mothers, have the opportunity to work, look for work, or go to school.
Vogel Alcove is giving homeless families a chance to overcome their circumstances. You can be a part of supporting the vision of Vogel Alcove by purchasing tickets to Day 1 DFW! We can’t think of a better way to kick off 2021.
