Have you seen the pink tow truck?
I have to admit that when this thing showed up at our house to pick up my wife’s car, I was tempted to make her go outside and deal with it. But, being the confident man I am (ahem), I decided to handle it myself.
Our driver Mike stepped out and was the kind of guy that greets you with a firm handshake and warm smile. Mike was instantly friendly and more than happy to answer our questions about the pink beast.
Something tells me he gets asked a lot.
It turns out it was LW’s Towing owner Larry’s idea to paint the truck pink, and his wife’s idea to tie it in with the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Now, $1.00 of every tow that truck does goes to Komen.
If you get a chance to look closely, the names of 200 survivors and non-survivors adorn the truck, ghosted in the checked pink paint job. Even the truck itself is a bit of a survivor, having been rebuilt after taking a beating from a tornado in its former home of Missouri.
The truck was such an attraction that a neighborhood kid even came outside just to watch. (Brilliant branding, Larry, but read on for what you really did right!)
Now, with no offense to LW’s Towing, I hope you don’t need their services anytime soon. But, if you happen to find yourself in need of towing in Frisco, LW’s is the one to call.
In fact, you might just want to add their number to your phone, so you don’t have to worry about looking it up when the time comes (972-625-8500). But, to be honest, what I liked best about the experience with LW’s Towing wasn’t the pink truck, fun as that was.
IT WAS MIKE.
When a business hires the right people, they do more to establish positive association with their brand than any logo, ad, or pink paint job could ever hope to. And, when you’re a company whose job it is to take care of people in a bad circumstance, and let’s face it, no one calls a tow truck for fun, then the right people are even more important.
Hats off to Larry, Mike, and the rest of the gang at LW’s Towing. For a day that got started off on the wrong foot, it got right back on track.
