Lovepacs Spring Gala Public Event

Lovepacs is a Non-profit organization in North Texas that was borne from a shared desire to ensure no child goes hungry during school breaks.

In November 2011, the founder families discovered that 6 children were being sent home from a school in The Colony with extra food in their backpacks to feed their families over the weekend.  Following further discussion with the school counsellor, it became apparent that those families were in dire need during longer breaks like Thanksgiving and Spring. Their simple plight touched the heart of others in the community and Lovepacs began.

The families worked with friends and neighbors to try to fill in the gaps for these children over the holidays.  Upon further research, the contributors then found out that many more were living below the poverty level (73% at one school alone).

With this information and support from the schools, a Facebook page was created and the word spread.  Everyone came together and before long there was enough food to feed the 6 families each day for 9 days during Thanksgiving break (46 boxes in all).  By Christmas 2011, the number of boxes more than doubled to 100 and then 200 by Spring Break.

Today, Lovepacs has various chapters that all work together, but also alongside the various school districts to serve local families in need during all breaks including the summer.

If you cannot attend the event on Friday, April 2nd, why not consider sponsoring one child for all of their Lovepacs for the school year?  For just $10 per month, you can sign up to sponsor a child on their website.  During various food drives throughout the year they also need individuals who are willing to sort, count, shelve, and pack inventory.

Lovepacs couldn’t do the work they do without tremendous support from donors and volunteers to serve all the children on the free and reduced lunch program through area public schools.
