The Texas Legends‘ recent jaunt to the East Coast couldn’t have come at a better time. Not only did they avoid the blizzards blanketing that part of the country, but they also managed to start a three-game winning streak.
W: Texas Legends (13-10) @ Austin Spurs (16-8) – 113-110
Video Highlights
As the Texas Legends know, a double-digit halftime lead doesn’t guarantee you anything. It does, however, provide some breathing room. The Legends would need that buffer as the Austin Spurs’ got hot in the third and fourth quarters.
Riding an impressive 63-48 lead over the Southwest Division’s first-place team, the Legends were able to withstand Austin’s 62-point second half onslaught, and escape with a big win that moved them one game closer to the coveted top spot in the division.
Ricky Ledo, who is starting to show the world why the Milwaukee Bucks picked him 43rd overall in the 2013 NBA Draft, led the team in scoring with 23 points. Damion Jones added a double-double to his resume with 21 points and 10 rebounds. And, Renaldo Balkman recorded a deuce with 13 points and 10 rebounds off the bench.
W: Texas Legends (14-10) @ Westchester Knicks (8-17) – 93-92
Video Highlights
It’s risky business when you’re outscored in the second half, but for the second time in as many games, the Texas Legends managed to hold on for the win, despite being outpaced in points 49-45 in the game’s final two quarters.
Once again, Renaldo Balkman posted a double-double off the bench, matching his 11 points with 11 rebounds. Doron Lamb paced the scoring, knocking down 25 points, while Ricky Ledo (14 pts) and Eric Griffin (15 pts) each reached double digits, as well.
W: Texas Legends (15-10) @ Delaware 87ers (10-14) – 115-111
Video Highlights
Both the Legends and the 87ers came out of the gates with guns blazing to the tune of 75 combined first quarter points. Down 65-61 at the half, the Texas Legends reversed their recent trend of second half deficits, as they outshot Delaware 54-46 to hang on for their third straight win.
Mike James, after seeing limited playing time the night before, made the most of his 40 minutes, putting down an impressive triple-double with 10 rebounds, 14 assists and 21 points. Damion James was on fire, as well, going 3-for-3 from three-point land, and ended up with a team high 26 points and 13 rebounds.
