It’s-A-Burger is Nice Addition to Frisco Burger Scene

Sometimes in life, simplicity is all you need. And that’s usually the case when it comes to one of our most popular foods here in America – the hamburger.

Sure, getting a burger with a fried egg on top or maybe even on a brioche bun, among the recent things which have given the humble hamburger a more gourmet feel, is nice occasionally, but give me a nicely-cooked piece of meat with maybe some cheese and bacon on a regular bun with some French fries or tater tots and I’m set.

Well, that’s just the sort of classic meal you’re going to get at It’s-A-Burger, which opened near the end of 2017 at the corner of FM 423 and Panther Creek Parkway. This second location of the small chain has a Little Elm address, but the Frisco border sits mere feet away.

What’s on the menu at It’s-A-Burger?

As for the food itself, my most recent visit was on a day where I had skipped lunch, so I opted for an appetizer of fried mozzarella sticks to accompany my Texas Chili Cheeseburger, which was the special of the month.

But, they have several other appetizers besides cheese sticks, including a cup of chili or chicken fries.

The mozzarella sticks were freshly fried and quite delicious. Served with a side of marinara sauce, they were a perfect prelude to the main course.

My burger arrived not long after I finished my appetizer and it was a sight: a well-toasted bun over 1/3 pound of freshly ground beef which featured chili and cheese on top with mustard on the bottom.

The chili was literally flowing out the sides of the burger and onto the wax paper-covered plate it was served on, but I didn’t mind.

On a previous visit, I had their tater tots with a Bacon Cheeseburger, but this time I opted for the macaroni and cheese for my side, a great call to say the least.

As for the burger, it was delicious with a nice mix of meat, chili and cheese flavors along with a nice yet unexpected shot of added taste from the mustard on the bottom of the burger.

The mac-and-cheese did not disappoint…

Not only was it creamy and full of cheesy goodness, it was also as piping hot as it was freshly made. And all that chili that dripped out of the burger, I took the same spoon I’d used on the mac to let none of the spilled chili go to waste.

But the Bacon Cheeseburger and Texas Chili Cheeseburger aren’t the only burgers on the menu at It’s-A-Burger. They also offer a Jalapeno Burger and a Mississippi Slaw Burger, which features their coleslaw on the burger.

It’s-A-Burger also serves a veggie burger, a turkey burger and other non-burger options like a grilled cheese, a BLT, a chicken fried steak sandwich, a North Atlantic Whitefish sandwich and chicken (fried or grilled).

And on the off chance you’re not feeling like a burger or a sandwich, then give their Frito Chili Pie a shot because what’s better than Fritos, chili and cheese served together, especially this time of year?

What’s for Dessert?

It’s-A-Burger also delivers on the dessert front, offering shakes and malts in chocolate, vanilla and strawberry, root beer floats and a free soft-serve cone with every purchase.

One thing I’ve yet to try, but something that’s on my culinary radar is their funnel fries, which are listed among their desserts. Of course, funnel cake holds a rightful place in the pantheon of great fried foods which are usually best enjoyed in a fair setting.

With two locations already open (Aubrey and Little Elm/Frisco) and the opening of a third store in Denton rapidly approaching, It’s-A-Burger has already carved out a nice niche in the crowded burger market of North DFW.

And considering they offer delicious, fresh food with friendly service and at reasonable prices, it not hard to see why their mantra of “We Believe the Golden Rule Should Rule” continues to ring true with a growing customer base.
