Where do you go to get away when the world is shut down?
I’ve been asking myself that very question recently as I rack up airline credits from canceled vacations. I’m a working mom with two little ones at home, so the only way to keep my sanity is to fill my calendar with self-care escapes.
But 2020 has thrown us all some curveballs, and a lot of cancellations, so I’ve gotten crafty with finding avenues to recharge.
Turns out, I never had to leave the comfort of my city to experience the same relaxation that comes from white sandy beaches. Right here in the heart of Frisco is a retreat from the hectic: Culture A Day Spa.
Culture A Day Spa may be one of Frisco’s finest small businesses, but there’s nothing minuscule about what they offer.
From the minute you step foot inside the spa, you’re whisked away into a sea of marble and chandeliers and a wall of sleek, sophisticated, paraben-free skincare products, KS Esthetics, locally and intentionally produced by Culture’s owner, Katelin Schebler.
Upon arriving, I was greeted by name and felt like royalty, appearing to have the entire place to myself. This is an intentional strategy during the days of COVID-19. Culture has reduced its capacity to 25% or less, with staggered reservations and specific check-in times to reduce the number of guests arriving at once. A strategy that made me feel extremely special and safe.
I made my way to the changing area feeling like I was in a world-class spa, but one that hasn’t lost its personalization and attention to detail. Luxury-grade robes, check. A relaxation, technology-free area with seasonal, fruit-infused water. Check, check. As I poured a cup of white Riesling tea, I was greeted and guided to my treatment room by two wonderful members of the Culture team. Yes, two.
For those who are a tad indecisive like me (which will be everyone once you see Culture’s incredible and extensive list of services), you can now experience something called the Diamond Duet, an 80-minute, facial and massage experience provided by two licensed professionals working in tandem.
Think facial steaming, hot towels, foot and hand reflexology, hot stones, and Culture’s signature diamond mask. Not to mention the additional perks that come along with the Diamond Duet like a reserved parking space, lounge seating, and a celebratory gift.
As I faded in and out of consciousness, not remembering if Bora Bora was back on or if I was just in a deep state of relaxation (it was the latter), I realized there was such synchroneity to the treatment it almost felt as though the two providers had become one. A testament to the hours of extensive training that owners Katelin and Jon Schebler pour into their five-star staff.
Two therapists, two services at one, too good of a deal (especially since it’s discounted right now in honor of Culture’s TWO year anniversary).
As I regained my whereabouts, and almost refused to leave the heated, hydraulic table fitted with professional-grade sheets, I remembered my experience didn’t have to end.
Culture A Day Spa has a private dining area for reservation. They feature summer and winter menus, and you can also bring in champagne to toast to a birthday or a “just because” celebration.
Even better? Guests can host private celebrations and reserve the entire spa for their closest friends and family for a half or full-day.
Culture has hosted everything from a full spa reservation for a baby sprinkle with only five members in attendance to a half-day reserve for a local small business wanting to make their employees feel special with a spa day and dining experience.
Private reservations are an incredible option for anyone wanting to take extra covid precautions in addition to the already implemented masks, personalized hand sanitizers (it was so cute it fit right into my robe pocket!), three hospital-grade disinfectants used to clean behind each guest, and carefully hidden Spa Coordinators who are specifically assigned to clean high traffic areas as guests transition throughout the spa.
Culture A Day Spa is a gem hiding in plain sight. Conveniently located near Stonebriar Centre, Culture is a place where the everyday seems far away.
And during such complicated and trying times, where our calendars deserve to be filled with some kind of self-care, Culture is the perfect getaway to remind you that SPAcations are here to stay.
