Frisco’s NFL Pro Jay Ajayi Brings Football Camp Home

It was just a few months ago that we all cheered for Liberty High School Alum Jay Ajayi when he headed to the Super Bowl as a Running Back for the Philadelphia Eagles. While Frisco has clearly become Cowboys country, we’re all extremely proud of Jay for not only his Super Bowl victory, but his continued allegiance to home.

Ajayi is headed home to Frisco in a few weeks to host a FREE community football camp, and the official launch of the Jay Ajayi Foundation. He’ll be joined by friends and teammates from across the NFL.

The camp will be available to boys and girls from grades 1 – 12 who wish to develop and improve their football skills, sportsmanship and teamwork while building confidence both on-and-off the field.

The camp will focus on correct, safe, and proper methods of contact and other gameplay action. The young athletes can expect to train directly with Jay Ajayi and additional NFL athletes (to be announced soon) to gain FUNdamental knowledge and experience to last a lifetime.

Registration for the FREE camp opens June 1st and camp will be held at Memorial Stadium in Frisco. Registration will be capped at the first 250 registrants for each session.

Session 1 is from 10:00am – Noon for grades 1-7. Session 2 is from 1:00pm – 3:00 pm for kids in grades 8-12. The sessions will focus on age-appropriate strategies and skills. Camp attendees will receive a t-shirt and athletic backpack.

NFL player-led football camps are typically expensive. In speaking with Jay directly last week, he shared that he wants the camp to be free, and therefore available to kids who may not otherwise have the opportunity to participate in something of this kind.

The Jay Ajayi Foundation

Jay has invested his resources into the Jay Ajayi Foundation and looks forward to executing annual football camps of this kind to provide opportunities for young athletes, and to ensure the integrity of the game is upheld by concentrating on sportsmanship and fair play.

Additionally, the Foundation is committed to hosting fundraisers and special events to raise funds and awareness for causes that are important to Jay’s family and causes that build better communities.

When I thanked him for bringing his camp to Frisco, acknowledging that he could have hosted it anywhere. Jay shared,

Frisco is where I learned to play football. It’s a pleasure to be able to come back and remember…

Jay keeps in touch with some of his former coaches and a small circle of trusted friends that he can really count on, and he’s always surprised to see how much Frisco changes between visits.

While he spends much of the offseason in his birthplace of London, he visits Frisco as often as he can to connect with his family. When asked what his younger siblings think about his Super Bowl success, he didn’t pause for even a moment to say,

They’re all really great in their own right. They’re smart, doing well in their sports… Being the oldest, I’m trying to be a good example to them.

Jay exudes a humility that we all hope to see in a young, professional athlete, and his heart to make an impact in the lives of others is sincere. It’s clear that family is important to him, as is using his current platform to bless others.

With regard to the upcoming football camp in Frisco, Jay shared,

I’m excited to be able to leave a legacy off the field and teach kids not only sportsmanship and football skills but the things that I learned along the way… Values, most of all.

Case in point, Jay emphasized that when it comes to leaving a legacy off the field, it isn’t just about himself, but his family.

With the Ajayi name behind it, it’s important to me that it be done right.
