In Frisco, the arrival of summer means the welcome return of one of our favorite events, Music in the Square!
Music in the Square is a free event featuring an amazing line-up of talented musicians. ‘MITS’ has quickly become a tradition for not only Frisco residents but visitors from the surrounding cities as well.
The 2019 event will occur every Friday for four weeks, June 7 through June 28, in Frisco Square’s Simpson Plaza, and is open to all ages.
This is another great addition to the growing music scene here in Frisco and with this year’s great line up, it is sure to be another success. Bring friends and family, grab a picnic, some blankets or chairs and enjoy listening to a variety of musicians as the sun sets.

Who, What, When, Where, How
The bands play from 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm, but people generally begin to roll in around 6:30 pm. The event can become crowded so we suggest that you arrive early. Find directions here.
Parking is available in the public parking structure behind the City of Frisco Municipal/Public Library building. You’ll want to bring a blanket to sit on or lawn chairs. Coolers and snacks are permitted, as are dogs on a leash.
Grab dinner before or after at one of the many restaurants between Frisco Square and The Rail District. To name a few, The Heritage Table, Best Thai, Pizzeria Testa, Frisco Rail Yard, British Lion, Firehouse Subs, Jake’s, @Nerdvana, or Eight |11 Place.

2019 Music in the Square Summer Line-up
June 7: Justin Mason is a Texas native and no stranger to country music. He grew up listening to all of the greats, and he brings that sound to his music today. Singing original songs, as well as some of the country classics, Justin is a true entertainer. He loves performing and has all of his audiences dancing and singing along!

June 14: Moving Colors is one of the most popular bands in the Dallas area performing a wide variety of music and incorporating some buckets and trash cans in their routine as well. They love to have fun on stage.
June 21: The Vinyl Stripes take you back to the beginnings of Rock and Roll with classic Rockabilly hits from the 50’s, Surf music from the 60’s, and new music done up in that style!
June 28: Monte Montgomery: You can call it prescient or predetermined, but when Terry Lickona, undisputed tastemaker, and producer of Austin City Limits, plucked a then relatively unknown guitar talent to tape a segment of the legendary show, one had the sense that this was just the beginning. Since that jaw-dropping performance, Monte Montgomery has embarked on an almost fantasy-like rock and roll roller coaster ride filled with dizzying accomplishments and mind-blowing accolades. Named one of the “Top 50 All-Time Greatest Guitar Players” by Guitar Player Magazine, he’s been called everything from “guitar-god” to the “answer to the Fermi Paradox”.
What people are saying about Music in the Square…
I caught up with Joey Salvia of the band Moving Colors, who will perform at MITS on June 14. Moving Colors offers a huge big production with horns, lights, and multiple singers. Joey shared,
Moving Colors loves to be a part of this event and I’ve been honored to perform each time we’ve been asked. As a club and wedding band, it’s always great to get in front of our local families at festivals, fairs and play for the kids as well as the parents. We have a big show planned, and look forward to seeing the great people of Frisco in the square.

Residents and visitors of all ages say it’s an event they look forward to every year. Frisco resident Kirk Thompson says,
I look forward to this every summer, seeing the bands for free and being so close to home is great!”
If you’ve not made it out to experience Music In the Square yet, consider making time to do so. In addition to supporting local music, this is really a great event for the family time or date night, and a perfect way to kick off your summer.
