My first thought when I heard there was a new diner called Frisco Star Café was that it was part of Jerry Jones’ sparkling new complex at the corner of Warren Parkway and the Dallas North Tollway, The Star. Boy, was I mistaken!
Considering that in November 2003, your breakfast choices in Frisco were limited to the Depot Café, IHOP, and Le Peep, the recent addition of Frisco Star Café along with several other great breakfast options is definitely welcome.
Walk in the restaurant and you’re immediately greeted and asked where you’d like to sit. It’s pretty much your typical diner layout, but I happen to like that. And, after starting off with a fresh cup of coffee, it was time to peruse the menu.
Their egg-based breakfast items like omelets and eggs any style which can be accompanied by the likes of chicken fried chicken or steak and corned beef hash. I opted for the corned beef hash which came with hash browns and a choice of toast, buttermilk biscuits, and pancakes.
There are plenty of other options on this menu, including breakfast skillets, several varieties of Eggs Benedict, including one with a crab cake and another with smoked turkey and avocado, plus another option with the standard Canadian Bacon. Frisco Star Café also offers breakfast standards like steak and eggs, a breakfast burrito, and a biscuit with sausage gravy.
Several varieties of French toast are also offered including the standard and a stuffed option. Frisco Star Café also has classic or stuffed crepes. But if waffles are your thing, then you’re also going to be pleased as the Café serves both a standard waffle as well as the heartier Belgian Waffle.
With friendly service, great food, and reasonable prices, Frisco Star Café has the makings of a fixture in our community for years to come. Judging from the number of cars in their lot when I drive by, it appears this breakfast spot is no longer a hidden gem.
So, whether you’re craving breakfast at the standard 7 AM, twelve hours later, or maybe you don’t fancy breakfast at all, give Frisco Star Café a shot.
