The weather is warming up, and if you’re like me, you have been re-organizing the kids closets. Probably you’re finding they have outgrown a lot of clothes, and some barely worn!
There are options to sell on Facebook and local garage sites or at consignment stores, but how about trying Frisco Kids Consign – a locally owned business run by two Frisco ladies, Kristin Gregg and Jaclyn Whisenant.
Frisco Kids Consign occurs twice a year, offering the opportunity to clear out your closets and make extra dollars from gently used items. This year, the FKC has moved to McKinney Town Center, just across the border of Frisco.
As moms, we watch our kids grow like steam from one season to the next. We tend to feel like we are constantly purging clothes after they no longer fit or getting rid of items no longer needed,” explains Jaclyn, “but in many cases, some of those items are still brand new.”
The event kicks off with a Pre-Sale on Thursday evening May 12th. Volunteers, first-time parents, parents-to-be, new moms, and grandparents have exclusive access to shop. The event then runs until Sunday May 15th for everyone ending with a special private charity sale.
As consignors, you have an option to take home anything that does not sell or you can donate to charity. Once again, the ladies of FKC are partnering with Frisco Moms Care.
I first discovered this event a couple of years back while helping a friend put together her stock. I realized it was a bargain heaven for moms with kids of all ages, but especially expectant mothers.
I became a consignor in Fall 2013, a task that seemed daunting at first, but boy was I hooked with FKC’s oh-so-simple process. I haven’t missed a sale since, both as a consignor and shopper.
If it’s your first time, their website is easy to follow so take a look and get registered. Then review your items against their criteria and you will find that you have a lot that can bring in some cash.
Sports equipment, for example, is expensive. While one kid no longer plays a particular sport, another family is looking for a bargain – win, win!
Items they accept include gently worn children’s clothing from newborn to teens, maternity clothing, shoes, toys, books, games, DVDs, baby equipment, kid’s sports equipment, and furniture.
For a complete list visit their website.
This year they are introducing their Valet service so if consigning interests you, but don’t have time to organize and tag, let the ladies help out with a complete one stop shop.
Look through the items you’re wanting to get rid of. Are there at least 50? Do they meet their Accepted Items criteria? If so, contact Kristin to request a spot and once approved, you will register for the sale and will have 3-4 options for meeting and pick up locations. Check out all their Valet terms & conditions.
So climb into the back of those closets and get consigning! If you’re not up to that, mark your calendar for some major shopping and great savings on those baby and kid essentials.
FKC is the perfect place to score super deals on the brand-name children’s clothing and baby gear you love. Entry to the sale is completely FREE!
