The City of Frisco is searching for just the right mix of talented local performers to supply a fun, exhilarating soundtrack for the summer’s biggest party, Frisco Freedom Fest.
The 12th annual Independence Day celebration, scheduled for Friday, July 4, will feature a Community Stage showcasing a variety of singers, dancers, and musical groups. The festivities will kick off at 4 pm and continue until fireworks end at 10 p.m. Frisco Freedom Fest brings our community together to celebrate America’s independence in a fun, family-friendly environment.
Music is a huge part of Party in the Plaza, which also boasts Taste of Frisco, the Children’s Expo, a Hometown Heroes exhibit, and plenty of seasonal shopping. But, it’s the performers of Community Stage who always manage to keep the crowds groovin’ throughout the hot summer day.
The City of Frisco is now accepting applications from performing artists of all ages interested in entertaining on the Community Stage. The competition is open to anyone who lives in the City of Frisco or attends a Frisco ISD school. Applicants must be willing to perform for free. We encourage a variety of performers to apply, from soloists to bands to dancers. A committee of city employees will score and select performers from those who turn in a complete application.
The deadline to submit an application is 5 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2014. Late entries will not be accepted. Applications must be completed in full, including the biographical information. Provide us with a url link to view a recent performance posted on the Internet or a DVD.
The completed application should be emailed to: Emily Martinez, City of Frisco Communications and Media Relations Department, firstname.lastname@example.org
In addition to the homegrown talent on the Community Stage, this year’s Frisco Freedom Fest Party in the Plaza features an expanded Children’s Expo, including new human ‘hamster ball’ races. The Children’s Expo will feature more amusements than ever before, with three euro bungees, two zip lines, more jump houses and games, as well as a variety of new and returning eateries for Taste of Frisco. Our neighbors at Toyota Stadium will host an MLS match at 8 p.m. between FC Dallas and the Philadelphia Union. The evening concludes with a spectacular fireworks show, one of the best in North Texas.
The city also is still accepting applications from businesses, non-profit organizations and crafters who want to participate in Vendor Village.
