“Frisco Students Invited to Apply for Young Entrepreneurs Academy” – DEADLINE Sept. 30th! The Frisco Chamber of Commerce is now accepting applications for Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!), an innovative educational program for students in grades six through twelve. The program takes students through the process of starting and running their own businesses. Each participant will brainstorm a business idea, write a business plan, pitch to potential investors, obtain funding and actually launch their own business or social enterprise! Frisco ISD middle and high school students are encouraged to apply. No prior business experience is required, though applicants should show determination, creativity and a strong work ethic. The program begins in November and runs through April. Classes meet each Tuesday evening from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Frisco ISD Career and Technical Education Center, 9889 Wade Boulevard in Frisco.

“WaterWise Fall Workshop Series: Attend ‘An Introduction to John Bunker Sands’ Brown Bag Event” – Located in our own backyard, the John Bunker Sands Wetland Center is a 2,000 acre man-made wetland that provides millions of gallons of additional drinking water while serving as a vital habitat for some of our most treasured wildlife in the region. Bring your lunch, and join John DeFillipo, JBS Wetland Director, as he returns to Frisco for an engaging update on our most unique water supply source. “Frisco Improv Players present a Night of Improv” – Frisco Improv Players is an improvisational comedy troupe that specializes in family-friendly, game-based comedic performances, similar to those seen on the syndicated television show “Whose Line is it Anyway?” The troupe performs at the Frisco Discovery Center at 8004 North Dallas Parkway, from 8-10pm, where their fast-paced, interactive improv is popular with all age groups. “Visual Arts Guild of Frisco (VAGF) WORKSHOP for the 4th Annual Art Exhibition: “I Am Thankful For…” – The Visual Arts Guild of Frisco (VAGF) is happy to announce a WORKSHOP for the 4th Annual Art Exhibition: “I Am Thankful For…” From 1-4 pm, in the Frisco Discovery Center 8004 N. Dallas Pkwy, Frisco, TX 75034, the workshop is part of the prequel activities leading up to the international “I Am Thankful For…” art exhibition, which is a wonderful opportunity for children, young adults, and families from all cultures to teach and express their thankfulness by creating art depicting what they are grateful for. Being thankful for what we have reduces the suffering over what we don’t have, and naturally creates the desire to give to others. The intention of the program is to encourage people to stop and be thankful. Instructor/Guide: local artist, Brenda G Thomas. All materials will be provided. Fee: $7 participant contribution can be paid at the time of the workshop (cash or check). Contest is open to 5 categories:
Children: ages 5-7, ages 8-10, ages 11-14, ages 15-18,

“Dinner Tonight: A Taste of Fresh and Fast Cooking School” – A Taste of Fresh and Fast cooking school will be held Tuesday, September 29, 6:30 -8:30 p.m., at the Collin College Preston Ridge Conference Center, 9700 Wade Blvd., Frisco.
