“Metal Shop” – Metal Shop has been rocking stages and abusing roadies since 1982 back on the Sunset Strip. It all started when the band was living in Ratchett’s mom’s basement. Ginger claims “We saw a Def Leppard video on MTV (back when MTV was cool) and saw all the hot chicks that they were getting. We wanted hot chicks too, but the only way to get hot chicks is to be in a band, wear tons of makeup, cool clothes and have big hair, so we decided to start a band.” Don’t miss the party starting at 9pm at Rock 101 Grill, 2833 Eldorado Pkwy, 75033
“First Friday Breakfast Meeting: Frisco Area Creatives” – It’s time again for the Frisco Area Creatives First Friday get-together to network and discuss ways to build local production. If you’re in the arts, come have breakfast with us and meet other talented Musicians, actors, lighting, set design, painters, sound, camera, and more. “Dive-In Movies” – Tonight, see “The Good Dinosaur” by floating in the pool and lazy river while you watch a movie under the stars at the Frisco Water Park. Friday night family fun can’t get better than this! Frisco Water Park at the Frisco Athletic Center. Gate opens at 8:00 p.m. $8 per person; children under 2 are free, but must have a ticket for entry. Under 2 years-old tickets are limited and must be picked up at the Frisco Athletic Center. Water features will remain on until the movie starts at sunset. Concessions stand will be open.
“Driving Miss Daisy” – A PULITZER PRIZE WINNING PLAY BY ALFRED UHRY. Play will be performed August 5th through the 21st. Directed by Evelyn Davis. Starring Fradonna Griffin, Jerry Barrax and Shane Beeson. Performed in the Black Box Theater in the Frisco Discovery Center. A warm hearted, humorous and affecting study of the unlikely relationship between an aging. crotchety white Southern lady and a proud, soft spoken black man. Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 2:30pm. Shows often sell out so make your reservations early!

“Frisco Rotary FARMERS MARKET” – The Farmers Market is back in downtown Frisco with a new location! On 4th Street between Main and Elm, the Farmers Market is open every Saturday from 8am to 1pm or Sell Out. A bounty of fresh fruits and vegetables creates a colorful welcome to those who appreciate the “buy fresh, buy local” idea. Seasonal fruits create a spectacular palette! “U17 Five Nations Tournament” – From August 9th to Saturday, August 13th in the Dr. Pepper Arena, this annual tournament features many of the world’s best hockey players under the age of 17 including national teams from the Czech Republic, Germany, Slovakia, and Switzerland in addition to the U.S.
“Italian Leather Mask Making with Leonard Buscemi” – Join Visual Arts Guild of Frisco (VAGF) members at Expedition Frisco, 9073 Berkshire Dr. Frisco, TX 75033, for the monthly meeting. Learn about Italian Techniques for creating leather masks for Comedia del Arte’ – an Italian street theater. Learn to create molds using Plaster-craft and then plaster to create each unique character form. Then the process of molding, sewing and dying the leather to complete a custom made mask. We also will have a mini-critique. Bring a piece of artwork (framing not necessary) and it can even be work-in -progress for a friendly feedback. We will draw for a prize at the meeting for participating artists. Come join in for a fun, creative night. Members and visitors are welcome.

“Unveiling of CLOUDSCAPE” – On Friday August 12th, join us and the City of Frisco Public Art Collection for the unveiling of CLOUDSCAPE. “Call for Art: ART IN THE ATRIUM 13” – Twice a year, the City of Frisco’s Public Art Program makes calls for artists’ work to be included in Art in the Atrium. This exhibition series features 2-Dimensional artwork from North Texas artists. Artwork is exhibited throughout the George A. Purefoy Municipal Center for approximately six months. This is an ideal opportunity for artists eager to share their works of art and vision with the community. Submissions are open for Art in the Atrium 13, a biannual exhibition of 2-Dimensional art open to artists of the North Texas Region. You may submit up to 5 images of current 2-Dimensional work (created within the past 18 months). The Exhibition will be on view in Frisco’s George A. Purefoy Municipal Center with an exclusive artist reception on Monday, October 17, 2016. Easy online submission process.
