Quick lesson in Poker

Our hockey team is requiring us to travel on a long trip for a tournament on a bus. One parent gets the honor of traveling with our player on bus. I lost the coin toss with my husband and am going on bus.

There has been a lot of planning for the trip amongst parents, and a poker tournament has been voted as the main source of entertainment to pass the time. The players are sitting up front, and parents are in the back of the bus.

I know the basics of poker, but I am more of a Roulette girl in Vegas.

I need a quick lesson and any secrets. I think it going to be Texas Hold Em. Is there other better versions to play?

HELP!

Texas Holdem is more of a player vs player game, and not so much a card game..

If you are new to the game, just play tight AKA play premium hands and pairs and bet large.. Id say 4x BB preflop and bet the pot on the flop.. Also dont call, raise..

Another fun game to play is Omaha Hi Low..

Remember, that I am not a brainiac like you so explain it a little more like I am a airhead. I need you to write down some cheat sheets for me too. I will give you a portion of my profits!

You are going from the worst odds in Vegas, roulette, to the best odds if you play the proper hands.

Premium hands would be suited connectors, same suit AK 10J things like that. Also high pairs and AK KQ. Small pocket pairs are ok to see a flop if not costing you too much.

Played at casino a couple days ago. Had 66 called for $7 guy behind me raises to $30 and gets 2 callers. I fold not worth $30. Flop has a 6 turn and river are 10 10. Total of 3 players all in that hand. Could of made a small fortune if the raise hadn't been so large. Small pocket pair just not worth it. Knocked out next had with Q9 suited, caught straight on flop. Guy raises me all in and catches flush on river. 46 spades and he goes all in with 4 spades. Crazy players out there.

Texas Hold Em is out. I will use Toolie's wording for that.

In basic poker can you trade in cards that you don't like? I used to play 7 card stud, and you could trade in cards, but that is not poker, right?

The kids are going to want to play holdem because that's the game they know because they have watched it on TV.

Just try to psych them out by telling them your the big Fish at the table.

So, in 7 card stud, they deal you 7 cards face down? You give back two cards and go with your hand?

Now, does three of a kind beat a full house?
NO and NO:no:

No stud for you and a full house is 3 of a kind and 2 of a kind For instance 10-10-10-6-6

This is my version of winning hands?.

With five cards, high cards beat low cards, a pair, two pairs, three of a kind, straight, full house, all same/flush then I am lost.

What if you have nothing? Is this the poker face mentality?

I don't understand raising or calling at all either.

Wear a lot of clothes
I never even thought of that, you dork.

That is excellent advice. I will wear lots of layers.

If I start losing, I will fake a dizzy spell, stop the bus, sign to my son "Let's go", hide, and call for a cab for the two of us. He knows the drill.
