Frisco Online / Lifestyle Frisco Merger

As most of you recall, we announced a merger of Lifestyle Frisco and Frisco-Online back in September.

Many of you have been asking when that is going to happen, so we thought it was time for an update and to
welcome everyone from FOL to Lifestyle Frisco!

It took longer than expected to get through contracts, but on Friday, November 3, 2017 all of the partners met and signed the official documents.

The partners include:
  • Wendi W. McGowan-Ellis
  • V. Scott Ellis
  • Jeff Cheney
  • Dana Cheney
  • Brandon Frakes
  • Gabe Harris
The new entity is called LsF Media Group, LLC and all the branding will be Lifestyle Frisco once the technical merger happens. The forums are WILL REMAIN with Lifestyle Frisco and will be known as the "FOL Forums."

Bringing It All Together

The first step was merging email lists so that we can more easily communicate with everyone. That means moving forward, you'll be getting twice weekly emails from Lifestyle Frisco:
  1. Monday: "This Week in Frisco"
  2. Friday: "Frisco 5 For Friday"
  3. And the occasional special announcement like this one.
The next step is to merge the two sites together. We're expecting that process to take the rest of this month. As of today, our target is a January 1st launch with the two sites merged under the Lifestyle Frisco flagship brand. That will include:
  • merged content
  • the "FOL Forums" as a part of Lifestyle Frisco
  • a brand new user experience
  • enhanced search capability
  • extended video content
  • and more in 2018!
We'll also be merging all of the social media accounts. If you're already following Frisco Online on Facebook, that page will get merged into the Lifestyle Frisco Facebook page.

There is no easy path to merge the other social accounts, so if you're not already following Lifestyle Frisco on the other social media channels we would encourage you to do so!
You may also want to subscribe to the Frisco Podcast on iTunes or grab the feed here.

A Special Word On The FOL Forums

We know the "FOL Forums" have been the heart and soul of Frisco-Online since the beginning. Many members of the community have shared a lot of information there and have a lot invested in those forums.

It's our commitment to keep the forums alive, to improve moderation, fight spam, and ensure that the "FOL Forums" are a welcoming environment to everyone in Frisco who wish to participate in the discussion about all things Frisco, Texas.

We're also going to be upating the forum software to make things easier to manage moving forward.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, we would love to hear from you.

On behalf of the partners of LsF Media Group, Thank you!

Just don't turn into a milquetoast fest 'safe' for generic advertisers that will try to market/spam us to death. Sure, keeping the overtly racist and spammers out would be a good thing but everyone can already participate here now. Some just can't take the consequences for posting something stupid or controversial. Yep...

Rimrock we have no intention of turning the site into something bland or one which gets overrun by advertisers. We'll be moderating that too as needed.

Yes, everyone can participate but hopefully the "welcoming environment" part of that message came through. As we go we'll always be receptive to feedback so keep it coming.

As you can see, the forums have been moved over to LifestyleFrisco.com. We know there is still a lot of work to do. We'll be striving for daily progress but we also wanted to let you know what to expect in the coming weeks.

Please be patient with us as we work though any lingering issues. But most of all... keep chatting!!
  • New spam controls are in place. It remains to be seen how much of that we still need to moderate but hopefully we'll all be dealing with less of that.
  • The look and feel needs polish and will be a work in progress this week.
  • More advanced search capabilities are coming
  • We'll be moving some forums around. Some individual forums may be removed, others added.
  • Content will have a forum of it's own so article comments and related threads will be interlinked.
  • We'll be updating forum rules.
  • Various bug fixes and updates.
As things evolve, we'll keep you posted here.

The National Politics forum should finally be removed. Nothing of value would be lost, and it would eliminate a massive source of hate speech on the site.

I cringe at the thought that someone might come to this place hoping to learn about the people of this city and see that as an example.

It would appear that the offending content linked in the previous post was removed. Glad to see it.

Given that there's no interest in the nuclear option I'd be happy to at least see updated guidelines and rules in place that are adhered to in terms of dealing with problem posters.
