The timeless tradition of oral storytelling come to Frisco on Friday, October 18, through Saturday, October 19, as the Frisco Public Library hosts the “Lone Star Festival,” a treasure of tall tales and truth-speaking brought to you by the Frisco Public Library Foundation.
Experience captivating stories told by some of the nation’s top storytellers – Kevin Kling, Bil Lepp, Sue Roseberry, and The Storycrafters. Watch as these award-winning performers put a contemporary spin on an old art form. “The Festival is high-level, live entertainment. Think Garrison Keillor or Bill Cosby. It’s best described as one-person theater where tellers dip into their well of experiences and share tales from childhood and beyond,” says Lone Star Storytelling Festival producer, Mayra Diaz.
People use stories to cope with an ever-changing world. Today, with so much time spent in front of screens, the need for stories and community is greater than ever before. Explore where stories come from, why we need to tell them, what is sacred, what is funny and how stories help us in times of loss, challenge and success.
With two full days of scheduled events, the fun begins Friday evening with Favorite Stories, and performances continue throughout the day Saturday. On Saturday evening, enjoy Bedtime Stories for the younger set or side-splitting tales during Laughing Night later in the evening.
The Festival takes place at the George A. Purefoy Municipal Center, 6101 Frisco Square Blvd. Tickets now on sale online or in-person at the library beginning September 3rd. Bring the whole family and come and hear the power of the story!
