Have you parked off old Main street and walked around lately? Historic Downtown Frisco is home to some of the most unique, charming and thriving small businesses. It’s a great destination for shopping, eating, and the arts. Among these fabulous little shops is Lillian Welch, founded in 2013.
As busy as everyone is in Frisco, I encourage you to take even just one hour, grab a friend and drop by this delightful boutique. Nestled at the northwest corner of 5th and Main Street, you can’t miss Lillian Welch’s big, inviting window. Park the car, grab a coffee across the street at Summer Moon (the only local coffee the owner allows in her store…downtown merchants loyalty!) and browse the stylish merchandise.
It’s not just a shop. Browsing around and exchanging in conversation with owner Anne-Marie Lindsey is a delightful experience. The store is named after her great-grandmother, who was a huge part of her childhood growing up in Texas. With a passion for interior design and creating beautiful spaces that inspire, she is only too happy to advise and help you with a vision for your own home.
I first met Anne Marie when she opened further down the street beside Eight/11 Place. Having now moved to a larger space, she’s been able to expand her range of products and enjoy customers who come from far and wide for her treasures. The store is so beautifully laid out, you really must visit to appreciate the whole experience. In between my “ooohs and ahhhh’s as I explore, Anne-Marie and I usually chat and catch up on life and business.
Lifestyle Frisco: Are you enjoying the new premises?
Anne-Marie Lindsey: Absolutely! The new space has been wonderful! The natural light is incredible, and our clients enjoy a more authentic ‘Lillian Welch’ experience now more than ever!
LsF: How do you feel Lillian Welch will fit into the regeneration of the area and new master plan for Historic Downtown Frisco?
AML: The revitalization of downtown Frisco and its rebranding as The Rail District is a change that I’m honored to be a part of. I’m eager to watch our part of the city transform into something truly special. Lillian Welch was born out of my love for celebrating and sharing personal history, so The Rail District and its celebration of Frisco’s history seems a perfect fit!
LsF: What’s your favorite thing about owning and running your store?
AML: My favorite part of running a shop is the stories… I hear them, I share them, and I love the chance to be a part of them. The friendships forged while purveying all things lovely are one of my greatest blessings in life. Creating a space that invites and inspires, all while sharing these beautiful goods that I love, is such a privilege.
Anne-Marie also highlighted some inspiring brands in stock right now!
Andrea Barnett jewelry – Described as feminine and delicate these items are handmade in a Dallas studio (pictured at right). Jewelry created from religious saint’s relics, combined with rich colored gemstones, coins, medallions and freshwater pearls to create a vintage-inspired look.
Magnolia Pearl – A new line at the store, arriving directly from its flagship store in Fredericksburg, Texas, the line consists of authentically Artisan clothing (handmade with hand-stitched details) and accessories. Many pieces are one-of-a-kind. Anne-Marie is particularly excited about this one as she’s the only person stocking it throughout Dallas and North Texas with new items arriving every thirty days!
Bella Notte Linens – This is the product which inspired Anne-Marie to open the store and introduce luxury bed linen to Frisco and the surrounding cities. Easy-care, garment-dyed luxury linens of heirloom-quality that appeal to all looks.
Maileg – Not to forget the little ones, you might fall in love with this toy line. Modern Scandinavian design meets storybook whimsy in a dream-like aesthetic that brings the magic of childhood to every home. Characters with hand-sewn eyes and clothing, these are collectible toys made to the highest standard to be shared, cherished and handed down for generations.
L:A Bruket – Apothecary-inspired with ingredients reflecting all things by the sea. For your body, face, hair and mind, their skin-care products (for both men and women) provide a wide range of solutions carefully composed of natural, organic ingredients and are environmentally friendly.
JuJu Jams – My personal favorite! Ladies, put these on your Christmas list! Don’t tell me after a hard day you don’t love to change into comfy loungewear, especially with the shorter, colder days rolling in. Amazingly soft and attractive with – wait for it – a built-in wireless support bra! Sheer brilliance, I say. (Pictured at left.)
This is just a small preview of the treasures you’ll find! Anne-Marie is very grateful to the Frisco community for making her feel at home in downtown Frisco.
Looking back, I am in awe of all that has happened since signing the lease on my first space. It feels like a lifetime ago, and a couple of months ago, all at once! I am forever grateful for the opportunity to open the shop and it’s a wonderful feeling to reflect on all that I have learned about life and business.”
