Last summer the Dallas Cowboys moved into their new world headquarters, The Star, and everyone knew it was the start of something big. So far in 2017, Cowboys Fit, the team’s branded health club like no other, opened along with their equally state-of-the-art team store. The Ford Center has also already hosted its share of events with everything from concerts to high school football playoff games to football competitions and lacrosse being housed inside the facility.
This week, the 2017 NFL Draft will be held Thursday through Saturday, and for the first time, the Cowboys will be hosting an open-to-the-public Draft Party on the field at Ford Center. As expected, there are plenty of reasons to check out the proceedings.

Thursday, April 27, the festivities begin at 5PM
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will announce the first overall pick at around 7PM signaling that the draft has officially begun.
The Cowboys don’t pick until late in the first round. So, even though it will be a while before that selection is announced, you’ll be entertained by appearances from the iconic Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, live interviews with key organization draft decision-makers, live auditions for the Cowboys Rhythm and Blue Dancers, and various other attractions.
Throughout the weekend, a live feed of the NFL Draft telecast from ESPN will be shown both inside Ford Center as well as on the big screen in the plaza outside the facility, Tostitos Championship Plaza. Various current Cowboy players will be in attendance all three days.
On Friday, April 28, the Second and Third Rounds of the Draft
Ford Center will be the place to be, but Friday night will also feature a roundtable discussion led by longtime Cowboy radio voice Brad Sham who will likely be accompanied by Dallas’ first-round pick from Friday evening as well as other relevant Cowboy-centric personalities.
The 2017 Draft Concludes on Sunday Morning
The fourth through seventh rounds take place and the Cowboys will make their final selections in this year’s draft. Frisco is rumored to be in the running to host the 2018 NFL Draft at The Star, so maybe this year’s draft party is something of a dry run for the real thing which could arrive next spring.
Either way, for Cowboy fans who will make the trek to Frisco, The Star will play host to an event many fans of America’s Team would rather not miss. The Cowboys’ first draft party at The Star promises to be one of the biggest and best draft parties ever, but would we expect anything less from Jerry Jones and company? 😉
