Much like the City of Frisco, Conference USA continues to push boundaries to become a brand of innovation. Last year’s C-USA Championship tournament held in Frisco was such a success they’re coming back for more.
This March 11-14, 2020, talent and community involvement will be showcased at the 2020 Air Force Reserve Conference USA Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships presented by Baylor Scott & White Sports Performance Center at The Star.
This means the road to the Final Four actually comes through Frisco. The teams who cut down the nets at The Ford Center on March 14 get an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. You may be wondering…
Who’s playing in the C-USA Tournament?
Conference USA brings 12 Men’s and 12 Women’s Division I College teams to compete. Four Texas Teams are in the mix, including our own University of North Texas, Rice University, University of Texas at El Paso, and the University of Texas at San Antonio.

The unique layout of the venue alone is intriguing enough to go check out a session. The Ford Center at The Star is a football field first and foremost, but it’s an adaptive chameleon as we know from seeing concert stages and boxing rings fill the space.
There will be two basketball courts installed at The Star for Conference USA’s Men and Women athletes to play 22 games over the 4-day tournament.
I repeat – that’s 22 games over the course of a Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and, of course, culminating in crowning a 2020 champion after the finals on Saturday.
Clearly, it’s significant to business owners and residents to have the privilege of hosting Conference USA again in 2020. Judy MacLeod, Conference USA Commissioner, said,
As one of the most sport-centric cities in the country, Frisco provides the perfect venue to propel the C-USA brand toward unprecedented heights. We endeavor to create a lasting impact on the community and invite fans and supporters to enjoy all that Frisco and the DFW area have to offer.

You can get in on the fun of the Air Force Reserve C-USA Championships during Fan Fest. It’s free and it spans all four days of the tournament (March 11-14).
Fan Fest is held on the Tostitos Championship Plaza at the Ford Center at The Star. Activities are family and all-ages-friendly and include games, interactives, live music, meet and greets, team rallies, as well as community activity themes each day.
Providing a Premier Experience
The league’s primary focus for its premier basketball event continues to be providing its student-athletes with a memorable, unique and first-class experience. The partnership with the Air Force Reserve represents an outstanding opportunity for the league to provide exposure and appreciation for an organization that protects our country’s freedom while honoring the league’s teams and student-athletes.
The Air Force Reserve resources provide student-athletes help with college tuition assistance, student loan payback and part-time jobs which allow Reserve Citizen Airmen to advance their civilian careers or continue their educations while serving close to home.
Baylor Scott & White Medical Center is not only the presenting sponsor of the Conference USA Championships but happens to have a premier facility practically on-site. Baylor Scott and White Sports Performance Center at The Star works with athletes at any age, at any level and focuses on injury prevention, research, and wellness.
