Complimentary Family Discussions on Sports-Related Injuries and Prevention
at Sci-Tech Discovery Center Presented by Baylor Medical Center of Frisco and FOX4
Sci-Tech Discovery Center is bringing their “mind-stretching fun” to an important and informational speaker series for families with “CHALK TALK.” Presented by Baylor Medical Center at Frisco and featuring, one of the leading Texas Orthopedic Surgeons, sports medicine and training experts, the presentations are meant to educate families and to start and continue dialogue with children about their teams and about the importance of preventing injuries from sports.
During the presentations from 6pm to 7:30pm, the kids will work with the Sci-Tech staff in educational and hands-on exploration of the science behind sports and potential injuries. The activities will be for ages 4-8 and 9-13, and older teens will benefit from the discussions. Complimentary snacks and refreshments will be provided at:

Led by Mark T. Barisa, Ph.D, ABPP-CNAmerican Board of Neuropsychology and Health Psychology. Concussions can occur in any sport or recreational activity and usually do not involve a loss of consciousness. In fact, what used to simply be called “getting your bell rung,” may sometimes actually be a sports-related concussion. It is vital that all coaches, parents, and athletes learn to recognize the signs and symptoms of concussions in sports and activity and what to do about it.
