There is an abundance of Daycares, Playschools, Montessori and Mothers Day Out (MDO) programs all over Frisco, but do you find yourself requiring a childcare facility on an ‘as-needed’ basis every now and then?
A few years ago, I relocated to Texas, leaving behind consistent family support. While I was not ready for a permanent childcare solution, I found myself just needing somewhere reliable, safe and clean where I could occasionally drop my girls off; for example, when I had a medical appointment, or other commitment which meant they could not tag along.
Adventure Kids Playcare offers just that: A unique drop-in childcare experience for children ages 6 weeks – 12 years. Here, children can play, learn and explore in a safe and secure environment.
Not only is Adventure Kids a fantastic “drop-in” service but it is also a facility where the kids are encouraged to learn through play, offering a curriculum-based MDO program (known as the Adventure Kids University). They even offer extended hours, should you require an alternative to evening babysitting support.
From day one of entering the Frisco Adventure Kids facility I have found the staff to be very capable, warm and friendly. Now into our second year of utilizing their services, and with very little staff turnover, they have come to know my girls well. In this particular location there are 4 sisters, 3 of whom are managers, who boast years of combined experience working within Adventure Kids. I’ve found that they pride themselves on getting to know each child as an individual. They exude a professional and friendly manner, providing piece of mind to an anxious parent. They are extremely flexible and sensitive to specific requests and, while the facility offers a dedicated baby room and toddler area, they are able to keep siblings together where necessary.
All staff are CPR & First Aid certified, have received SIDS prevention training and have passed a criminal background check. Lunch, dinner and snacks are offered throughout the day, prepared in a fully kitted out kitchen and dining area. (All employees have also completed a food safety course and are trained in food handling.) In addition, Adventure Kids is a peanut-free facility and can accommodate any allergy concerns.
It is worth noting that they follow a curriculum on a daily basis, using the Handwriting Without Tears and Get Set for School Pre-K programs. Also incorporated into their daily routine are key components from Highscope (a research-based, early childhood curriculum) including circle time, plan-do review for work time (centers), small group and large group.
The support and fun elements continue throughout the day, as staff will help with any homework activities and guide daily craft projects. Check out this month’s calendar to get an idea of all the great themed events and activities your kids can enjoy. Just look at their plans for New Year’s Eve!
While reservations are not required for children aged 18 months and over, it is advisable to check in advance for popular theme nights on Fridays and Saturdays. This is easy to do via their website or by phone.
The facility prides itself on being green friendly. All toys and areas are cleaned and sanitized on a nightly basis by the staff and then sprayed down weekly by a third party contractor. (Of course, when the facility is empty.)
Overall pricing is extremely competitive. I decided to take advantage of their membership program, through which I pay an annual fee up front, then receive further discount on any drop-in fees.
Adventure Kids is located at Eldorado & FM423. I highly recommend you take a tour of this wonderful Frisco facility and see for yourself what opportunities await you and your little ones.
